who carries a multi-tool daily?

I own several Leatherman tools, also a Swisstool, but the one I carry every day is my Pulse. I keep it in its sheath in my fanny pack. Also have some type of SAK besides my little Victorinox Classic in my left pocket. In addition, for the past week my EDC knife has been a BM 730 SBT.

I myself have started carrying a leatherman supertool with a maglight in the same sheath, i love that set up, its so handy, and there is always a time that I need my leatherman, I will never go a day without it, you dont really notice its there, it doesnt way that much, but when its time to use it and you have it you always are thankful, so always wear your multi tool, or I will be upset hee hee.

I used to carry a Gerber Multiplier everyday to work. It was a great workhorse for me, despite few times it bit my hands while cutting wire. It was my daily carry until I broke the can opener off. Gerber couldn't repair it, but they gave me around $75 credit for me to buy what I wanted from them.

I ended up buying an ATS-34 drop point Gator with the credit and spent about $50 cash at my local Army PX for a Victorinox Swiss Tool. The Swiss Tool has replaced my Multiplier on my belt when I go to work. If I remember it, it also goes in my backpack on the days I don't have to go to work.

I used to carry the regular sized original leatherman but got tired of the pliers always sticking shut. The teeth had gotten smeared anyway so it was time for soemthing new. I picked up two Gerbers, one plain nose and one needle nose and gave my Dad the choice for Christmas. He chose the needle nose which was fine with me because I really wanted the heavier pliers anyway. But I don't like sheaths too much and the full size Gerber is a bit big for the pocket. SO, recently I picked up the smaller Gerber 400 Sport plier and I love it. Carry it everyday and use it constantly. Also I occasionally carry the SOG switchplier for variety and when I am in the mood for a sheath carry.

Some kind of folder IWB
Some kind of neck knife - you know where..

Also:
Super tool in my bag - along with a surefire 6P, and a host of other gear....

Oh - also a para ordnance P-14 IWB - next to the folder...

And at least one spare magazine in the bag...

Leatherman SuperTool rides on the "Bat Belt" every day, along with the folder, cell phone, pager, mini-MagLite, and my work badge.

People rib me about that stuff, asking me, "Do you think you have enough stuff hung off that belt?", to which I put on my best deadpan look, add a small facial tic, and reply, "Well, I don't have a gun, yet, do I?"

I seldom answer that question twice for anyone--and I get surprisingly little resistance to working on their computer, either.

"Yer gonna format my hard drive? Fine, fine!!"

I carry a Bucktool on my belt every day. I use it about a dozen times a day at work. Don't know how I ever made it through the day before I had one.

I use to carry a Sog Paratool, but the metal seemed so soft in mine that everytime I used it, I had to touch it up with file or it would start to bind. I have 2 Super Leatherman, and I think they are hard to beat. One requirement for me now is that any tool I carry must have a saw, and strong enough to use.

As long as I can remember I've carried a pocket knife of some kind, usually a SAK campers knife. When I was a kid they were expected. We all had them and we all used them to whittle wood and cut grass and stuff like that.

I lost heaps of them as a kid but my parents kept buying new ones (usually cheap ones - my parents knew me well). As an adult I started buying the genuine SAK (at the time these were the only things you could buy in NZ - no Buck, no Camillus, no nothing). I've lost two of those, one in a carpark in South Auckland while changing a tyre, once somewhere on the slopes of Mt Ngauruhoe (despite it being on a lanyard in a sheath!).

I've replaced my SAK with a Leatherman Wave, bought a couple of months ago. That thing now goes everywhere, either on my belt or in my laptop bag. I just wish I could find a comfortable way to wear it while sitting in the car. BTW I bought the Wave in a package with a mini-maglite, which now lives in my laptop bag. My one wish about the Wave is that it included an awl.

For a couple of years I carried a SAK Executive (little one with nail file and pathetic scissors) which has since been replaced by a Leatherman Micra (because of excellet scissors and an eyeglass screwdriver). It hangs off a belt loop on a little clip wherever I go. It has seen lots and lots of use around the office (mostly opening boxes and cutting paper). The scissors also do a good job on fingernails.

As an IT Trainer I can't really get away with carrying a lot - anything in a trouser pocket makes suit trousers sag too much (a keyring is too much!) and I don't wear a jacket (just a shirt and tie). In any case, New Zealand is a country where visibly carrying a knife would definately be commented on by everyone (and would result in attention from any LEO). A multitool, however, is pretty much accepted anywhere (except a pub or nightclub I guess).

At work my Wave has almost replaced my computer toolkit.

Cheers from NZ
Craig

P.S. the one time I have walked down the main street of a city carrying a fairly large fixed blade sheath knife, no-one commented at all. You get that when wearing a Scout Leader uniform.

L-man WAVE on Duty Belt every day. Use it once or twice a week, at least.

I have always carried a SAK (various models over the years, but lately the Cadet) and now I also have started to carry the Gerber Pro-scout. At work I carry a Leatherman Micra.

I've carried a SAK since I was a kid, but have added a SOG PowerPlier. I carried both while on military duty, but now as my job as a food scientist requiries a lot of experimental equipment, I find myself using them every day to fix something.

At work a Gerber Multi-plier with bluntnose. At home the same with needlenose, or here lately a Wenger Swiss Army, There is always a Victorinox Classic on my key chain. It will soon be going to the wife, to be replaced by the Manager 2. RKBA!

Carry a Pulse everyday in the crappy vertical sheath it came with. Looking to upgrade sheaths but thinking of upgrading tools instead. The Supertool 200 has alot of functionality, and the scissors, which would have been the only real advantage of one over the Supoertool 200, are not very good one the Pulse. Besides, that's what the Micra is for...

I carry a Swisstool when working, and a SAK Spartan on my keychain all the time.

Here in Australia, a new knife law was passed in 1996... or 1997 that means any knife can be caried, as long as it is not concealed, and it's there for a "lawful purpose".

basically it means that you could carry a a broadsword on your back if you were on your way to a medieval party... but you can't carry a leatherman in you pocket.

you can, however, carry it in a pouch on your belt. just the same as i take my SOG seal out into the bush with me, taped to the left shoulder strap of my pack, and that's perfectly legal.

but to answer the question, yes, i do carry a leatherman super tool with me everywhere... every day.

i find more people are surprised how handy it can be than are shocked by me wearing it.
i'm not, incidentally from the "outback" for all those of you who have been watching survivor... i live in suburbia like most of the rest of you ;-)

Well, because of suit-&-tie and the weight of SwissTool, I usually have them in my workdesk drawer (safely locked of course) but when I am out of my office, I am literally "Tools-less"

I thing I should get one that is less heavy and smaller in size

I always have one near by. It may be on my belt, in my brief case, or in my pocket. If all else fails I have one in the glove box.

Dennis,

Finally picked up a Super Tool. Found it at Eastern Mountain Sports, which is generally not known for super deals. This one had been a Christmas present for someone who didn't want it. $32.00, brand new in leather case without the box.
