Whoever said Marines were dumb?

Gentlemen, Gentlemen

This a nice place to swap stories and have fun. If you want to fight, find a mutual swimming pool 10 ft deep with water and have at it with swords.

:)

I like to tease my friends in other services, and yeah as an "Air Force puke", I've taken my share. My bottom line is "one team, one fight", regardless of what uniform you wear. I started learning as a young two striper, nearly twenty two years ago in the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force, that we might dress a little different, and act a little different, but underneath it all people are just people, some good, some bad, all imperfect.

I don't care to have this dredged up either. I could not have served during Vietnam - 4F.

What I would have done at the time if I'd been drafted, I didn't have to find out. I was a teenager then, and had a lot less smarts than I thought I did at the time.

But those who voluntarily put themselves where they can be (s)elected to go in harms way have my respect for that. I'd tend to give them the benefit of the doubt until they showed their asses. Which a good percentage of young folk inside or outside any service will do.

Some live and learn as they get older. Others don't learn but luck into old age anyway. And yet others with or without any sense get themselves dead - their fault or not.

Let's move on from here.

Bill mentions that a couple of Marines going to Iraq ordered some Khukris and you come in and say that Marines are stupid! Then you go and imply that Marines did all of the beach landings during WW2 for that reason. They're Marines, they're supposed to do beach landing! Army soldiers weren't even required to know how to swim, let alone perform a beach landing. Where do you get off saying something like that?

It is the title of the post.

I did not write it.

Klinton has really gotten to you.

That is the worst thing that I can say.

There is the small matter of D Day and the larger Pacific invasions; The Phlips, Oki, etc. not small islands. Minor matters such as Sicily, N. Africa and Italy come to mind.
Who won the game this year. I missed it?

I'm in favor of disagreeing agreeably and letting mole hills stay molehills. We all say things from time to time that sticks in one another's craw, maybe even our own when we stop to think about. But, getting mad don't fix it, and neither does getting even. The real enemy is out there guys. Let's put this behind us and go get 'em.

I agree. I read other pissy arguments in the different forums and vouched that I wouldn't get involved. Now I end up doing it on a forum that should stay neutral.

Well then, there was a gain.

You have not the faintest idea of which I speak anyway, nor should you.

A WW11 primer may help.

The Inchon invasion was quite remarkable.

Bill knows his history.

Yes Marines are dumb. They take pride in it don`t they?
Speaking as a mud grunt who knows tactics and strategy, I guess they serve their purpose.
Do not even get me started on the dumb things that Marines have done in my time and in front of me. How any survived combat is a mystery to me. Most were wounded at least twice. One did not quite under stand the concept of the low crawl.
Just dumb as rocks. And they do not tend to get smarter with age.
I have a lot of jar head friends. It pays to keep a close eye on them lest they hurt themselves and you. Even then, you cannot watch them all of the time. You will pay for any lack of vigelence. These folks think that booby traps are intriguing toys that they should be allowed to play with. And they do not ask! Your last plea is "Do not touch that!" Save me from Marines.
AS dive buddies; what buddy? They are off on a frolic of their own.
I try to avoid meeting them anymore.

What service has the most amphibious landing experiance?

What the hell kind of post is that?????

You really don't have a clue what you are talking about do you?

I was in the Marines for 4 years and I can tell you first hand that the requirements were higher just to join than the Army's were.

I trained with all 4 branches of the Military and many others from other nations and it comes down to one thing. We all have one goal, we are all the Armed Forces and all of us are basicly the same, but with different missions.
