Why not more discussion about eye brand?

Very well could be. I was surprised when I found them being made in China.

It's been awhile, but I'm about 98% sure I saw a Eye brand made in China. Might just of been a counterfeit knock off?
 
Eye Brand makes a good using knife. I carried this large stockman for a while.

Too bad they don't offer very many single blade patterns.

Actually, I think within the last couple of years Eye Brand was sold. The new owners immediately moved production to China. At first, they were assembling German made parts in China. Now they just make it all in China. Knives are being made in Germany again branded just "Carl Schlieper".

The Eye Brand knives were originally imported by a family from Austin, TX in the 1950's (there is a cult like following in Texas for the Eye Brand). Carl Schlieper became insolvent in 1992 and 1993 Friedrich Olbertz GmBH began production of the Eye Brand knives in the same way that they had been made. There are very few pocket knife companies left in Solingen and even fewer that still use a hammered carbon blade. They do make some stainless blade knives but their name was made on the carbon blades. These knives are working/carrying knives which might explain some of the comments I have seen in the past in regards to finish. Like most Solingen cutlery companies, Olbertz does still contract to make knives for other manufacturers but the arrangements are confidential. I know most of this for two reasons, I was at the factory two weeks ago in Solingen and we are an authorized importer, distributor and retailer of Carl Schlieper/ Eye Brand knives. I dont know everything about Schlieper and my knowledge prior to '92 is iffy at best. But the brand is going strong!!! check us out on facebook at <unauthorized dealer link removed>

I dont believe this is correct. I would agree that schlieper knockoffs are being made in China but the Olbertz factory continues to make the Eye Brand in Solingen and only in Solingen
