Why people hate on tantos?

When I was frist buying knives I had a few tantos, but never really warmed up to them and there is nothing that I need to pierce that I cannot do with a drop point, also not a fan of recurves, but if you like them enjoy. The tantos I have now are "reverse tantos" like the Malibu

Never understood the hate for tantos either. This one surprised me every step of the way with what it can handle...

Then of course the Tanto CRK Micarta Inkosi changed my mind forever with regards to its usefulness. Like most new things, it took time getting used to, the angles, the way to use and hold the knife but the Tanto Inkosi proved itself time and time again and not once did ever let me down or signaled the notion, a drop point was needed instead.

What fixed blade is that? That looks a lot like a Cold Steel Recon 1 tanto to my eye...

Which ZT is that? That looks pretty cool!

ZT 0392PURBLKWC
It has proven to be a very useful knife. :)

Couple weeks back I had it with me at the local gun store, and the guy who runs their knife sales had a Hinderer Eklipse with Wharncliffe blade with him that he'd bought a titanium scale for (they normally have G10 with a titanium liner). He was amazed at how much of a carbon copy of it the ZT is. Same hardware, same action (he'd put new bearings in his Hinderer), same heft. First time I'd seen the Eklipse in person as well, so it was a neat knife synchronicity day. :cool:

I'm a huge fan of ZTs productions of others designs. Just got a 0462 in Monday and it's a great knife! Now I'm gonna keep an eye out for one of these! I love the 0560BW I got from a forum member here!

Wow, that's cool man. With the Bureau I presume? I always wondered what it'd be like to work undercover, that's got to be a pretty exhilarating career. Kudos for having the balls to do that.

Man, yea I bet that was an anxiety riddled couple minutes thinking about your time spend undercover targeting a similar group.
My cousin was an FBI field agent for 15 years. He's now been in a supervisor position for 4 years. They really don't want you in the field after 40ish, and he will be 48 this month.

He was a field agent in NYC for 10 years. It's not glorious, you don't drive around in brand new blacked out Chevy Tahoe SUV's. His first car was a 25 year old rusty Crown Vic. Fit right in on the street in NYC. He mostly fid surveillance, tracking Pakistani and Afghani terror cells. He only actually went on a raid twice.

After having gone through the naval academy and then 6 years as a captain in the Marines, it was actually a bit underwhelming, and stressful I'm a different way. Living out of your car for three weeks on a stake out was not easy.

He was outfitted with a Glock 23 (.40), an HK MP-10 (10mm version of the MP5) and a 12ga Remington pump shotgun. He also had an axe, but no knife.

Top = Recon Tanto , an early tanto profile .
Bottom= Warcraft , decades later .

The secondary point is more prominent and the leading edge is lengthened and angled more forward .

This increases the effectiveness of snap cuts and slashing cuts with the front edge .
