Why so little love for the Congress pattern? Show yours.

I got my first congress recently and I like it much more than I thought I would. The characteristics that had kept me from wanting one turned out to be no big deal. The closed blades sticking up from the handle don't distract from comfortably holding the knife and I like that it has a spear point and a sheep foot main blades.

I received a Case half Congress in red delrin as a gift a few years ago, nothing special about it and at the time it wouldn’t push anything else out of my pocket. I picked up another half Congress at a second hand store, this one is a Sabre made in Japan I can’t determine the age of it and I haven’t given it a good cleaning yet, there’s some corrosion on the back spring around the Pen blade I don’t know if this is the reason for that one being a nail breaker or not, and there is some on the main blade that will remove easily. The Sabre is much more sleek than the Case but they are both comfortable in my hand. I will be putting them into my pocket rotation and giving them a chance.

The 4 blade congress is just too thick/chunky for my liking. I do like the slimmer half congress ... especially the big sheepsfoot blade - but I wish somebody would put a more substantial secondary pen blade on it. I haven't found a half whittler with a beefy pen blade to properly compliment the sheepsfoot.

I realized as I was laying these out that I had forgotten the forum Congress Jack and a Congress whittler that were stowed elsewhere. Maybe next time.

And yes, I'm working on the "Image not available" thing with the idiots.

I love looking at the Congress pattern - it evokes the image of antebellum times in my mind - old guys cutting a chaw of ‘backer while sitting on a wooden chair in the warehouse door (but I never saw anyone cut a chaw with a Congress Knife - mostly just saw Stockman and Jackknives). I have a number of Congress pocketknives in my collection and I like to display them because they look so cool. The only fly in the ointment is that I dislike carrying a Congress pattern pocketknife in my pocket - especially a four blade model - they are clunky in the pocket to me. I have two, three, and four blade variations and love to display them. I recently won the GEC Office Knife GAW and that knife now opens all my envelopes and packages - couldn’t get a more perfect knife for the job and I love looking at it on my desk - for me the Congress pattern is a desk knife. When I do carry one it is a two-blade model - not clunky. OH

This is where my mind goes when I see a Congress pattern knife, maybe doing a little whittling too.
I've got a few but don't carry one often. Too many other patterns I like better, I guess.
Here's a little Case Half Congress pen knife that I picked up a while back. A nice little knife.
