Just out of curiosity. Are these super stainless steels seeing action outside of the knife world? I imagine that extreme corrosion resistance would be considered valuable in situations where ordinary steels would rust easily, such as in saltwater environments. I’m not intimately familiar with the engineering, but I’d love to see H1 in diving type watches if that could be done.

Last I heard Spyderco was looking for a replacement to H1 because they won’t be able to get it from the original company. There are steels with even better corrosion resistance and I don’t know if the extra hardness would be needed for that application but that’s not an area I know much about. LC200N was first developed for bearings so it probably gets some use in other applications.
