Not sure how many wootz fans we have here but I figure someone might be interested. Someone over at SFI just cast a wootz cake. I don't think they are sure if it is wootz or not, but it looks pretty darn good what ever it is.

They have some nice high zoom pictures of the grain.

Big wootz fan. Too rare, mysterious and expensive, in all its various incarnations. Maybe that's the appeal.
 
very interesting....

Larry Harley is having a hammer-in on the 12th/13th and will have a wootz demonstrator there.
