Work pants discussion - your favorite?

Jerry Fisk wears a wool shirt while forging.........I'd imagine wool pants would work for you..... Its very resistant to fire.........needs a lot more oxygen to burn than is available in the atmosphere........ Anywho check out Weatherwool. com Pricey but worth it and its what Jerry wears.😉

I own An Anorak and the All Around Jacket......Both top notch...........Great business model too...... Wish more people were like Ralph..........

Carhartt fan here. Been rocking the B73 double front loggers for many, many years. Loose fits are super comfortable for me, and one of my favorite things about them is all the pockets, wallet, keys, phone, knife, and a spare mag all fit comfortably. I like the denims since the canvas take so long to break in, and trust me the denims are plenty tough. Slag and such will burn a hole or two, they aren't fireproof, but otherwise they're hard to ruin.

Some may not think they're still as durable as they used to be, but I was wearing a pair along with a Carhartt canvas jacket when I totalled my bike a few years ago. Bounced off a dirt bank in Idaho canyon country at about 50-55. No memory of it, but know I slid on my back for a good 80-90 yards. Got stitches in my knee from hitting something, but no tear. Back pocket caught and ended up ripping out most of the right side of the seat, probably from catching on the road, but other than that they were barely scuffed. The jacket had a minor scuff and some blood, but after I washed it you couldn't tell unless I pointed it out.

Some think they're overpriced and not what they used to be, but they're still made of 15 oz denim and after how mine stood up I'd beg to differ. If you shop around and have patience you can nab them for under $40, and seconds cheaper than that, and I never could tell why the few pairs of those I've had were being sold as seconds.

Not knocking any other brands, especially since I haven't felt the need to try them, just my $.02 worth on these.

When I’m in my shop doing those things, I wear good old farmers overalls. You can’t beat them for comfort and function.

Dickies and Bernes are my favorites so far.

Liberty, Carhart, Robucks all fit funny.
I’ve been wearing Roundhouse overalls for work for around 12-13 years now. They seem to hold up the best and fit the best out of all the ones I’ve tried (the blue jean ones that is). Also they’re the only ones that are made in the USA to my knowledge

Thanks I will try them next.

Redhead ultimate work pants. Great design with comfortable slightly stretchy durable materials and the perfect fit. Pockets are the best. They took over from Duluth trading flex five pocket pants around here.

Some sizes are only available at their “outlet”,
When you go to the outlet they are all imported! Sigh……

Yes it seems legit. IMG_7316.png

If you click on some sizes it says only available at our outlet. Then explains outlet items are imported.IMG_7317.png

No big deal. I was just looking ahead. I have a pair of Dickies and a pair of Bernes that fit now. I may eventually order the next size down in Roundhouse when I loose more weight.

They use the same picture for the American made and imported. The imported are cheaper only $40 a pair. They still say 100% American cotton. But made somewhere else.

I’m ok with anywhere but China. Made in USA is a big plus. I will have to keep loosing weight and get into American made sizes. 😂

I've always wanted to order a pair, but the sizing notes always gave me pause. I don't want to send them back and forth while I figure out how to order correctly...

I’ve found that they fit the same as Dickies in the waist. The legs are less baggy. Hope this helps.

In my world of pipeline welder and excavator........Wrangler 13MWZ . The cowboy high waisted jean is superior in strength and longevity. Been buying them from Sheplers for decades.

I get mine from Rural King.

I have some Carhartt's as well, but the lower waist feels weird sometimes. Hard to beat the original Cowboy Cut. I do own some of the "George Straight" ones with the leather patch. They're the same price.

I'll add just a tad bit more. In my line of work, roominess is a must to include belt loops and ridin'. The 13 MWZ has many belt loops other designers seem to ignore and (don't get turned on) getting on knees and back to weld big pipe, free movement
is needed. The design is perfect with room in all the right areas during periods the foreman is breathin' down my neck.

I started wearing these absolutely terrible Wranglers " flex waist outdoor cargo pants " for work a few years ago because they became the only black option I could find in stores in my size . ( ordering pants has previously been 100% unsuccessful)
I've made up for the thin breathable fabric by wearing silkweight base layer pants in the winter, but the pockets keep coming unstitched on every pair and when the price recently reached $30 that extra $9 was the last straw.

I discovered Diamond Gusset Jeans via All American Clothing co this past summer and have been quite impressed by the quality. I gambled on a pair of carpenter shorts which I was very happy with, hoping everything was designed similarly I tried a pair of their pants and was quite satisfied with them

They have just done a run of their 14oz original fit jeans in black.
If they work out as well as I hope, I may order the lighter weight pair for summer if my size is still available in a couple weeks .

I don't know where to put this, hopefully it's ok here.
I am a logger who does NOT wear denim.
It's hot in the summer, cold in the winter, when wet, its heavy and hotter in the summer & colder in the winter.
I wear Dickies, but their quality is tanking.
I used to get 3 years out of 2 pairs, now I'm lucky to get 1.5 years out of them.
I've heard good things about Ben Davis.
Anyone here know about them?
Or another brand?

I’ve just about stopped wearing jeans. 40 Grit flex twill cargo pants are what I’m wearing now. They are a lot more comfortable and the cargo pockets are roomy enough but still ride flat when empty. I’m not sure how durable they would be in your line of work but might be worth a try. I see them on sale every few months.
