I got the Field Sharpener as my first sharpener to sharpen my Benchmades. It gets the job done but what I recently noticed is that it slowly takes the coating off of my coated blades. It seems that the angle guides do that. They get dirty and abrasive it seems. Should I just set the blade on the angle guide but then take it off the guide before starting to move it not to scratch the DLC coating? Or am I missing something? I haven't used it that much but it seems if I continue to sharpen the same way the coating will be gone from the blade.
