Worksharp PRO ! ( Next level )

I was lucky enough to grab on the second batch. I have not used it much yet, but so far, I like it. I sharpened a Spyder kitchen knife with it and got a pretty nice edge on fairly quickly. The knife is wider so I had to be careful not to apply too much pressure. I also have the Precision Adjust and I do like the pro better!
By the way, I am new here and this is my first post. I am looking forward to joining in!!
Welcome to the forum! Hope you stick around.

I free hand sharpen on pocket stones unless I'm reprofiling.. the speed is unbeatable.

However, I do get fine scratches above my bevels from time to time on my flat ground blades. I can see the benefit of someone trying to retain the value of their $300+ folder by using a guided system to keep it super clean.

welcome and congrats on grabbing one. I had a KME system but ended up selling it and getting a KO w/blade grinder and while it's great, I would like to have system like this again for more precision work. I gave up on this and just went out and spent $$$ on the TSPROF K03 Pro but the US website was practically non-responsive and when I finally got acknowledgement of my order which they charged me for immediately, it's still unfulfilled and I have no estimate of delivery. I'm guessing I'll have to wait for the Russian sanctions to lift, LOL or maybe not LOL. I don't even know at this point. So frustrating.

you take less material off with a guided system, none of that is true.
This is the only point that I disagree with. You have far more control of the angle and repeatability with a good guided sharpener vs free hand so you have the ability to only take off as much material as you want, down to not taking enough off. If your knife deflects at all when sharpening due to varying amounts of pressure with the stone then you don't have a good guided sharpener.

That would be very frustrating!!

Yes, I think technically you can and probably do take off more material free hand, but the amount of material is negligible. For the total life of the blade, I don't think there would be any meaningful difference as the extra material removed is up on the shoulder. Arguably you would take off more material if you are not used to feeling for a burr and/or if you create an unnecessarily large burr on each side. That would happen whether you use a guided system or free hand.

As far as I'm concerned, if you are proficient free hand, then the only practical disadvantage you have is that you will have small inconsistencies in the cosmetic finish to the edge bevel.

When your are paying big dollars for an item you are entitled to better service than you have received. I'd be wanting my money refunded.

I'd recommend you cancel your order with them, and then place an order with Gritomatic. They are a local US based company and ship locally.

so this morning I signed up for an "in-stock" alert on the worksharp web page for this new offering. a few hours later, I was notified it was in stock and within a half hour, it was out of stock again. It seems that despite the outrageously high price (in my humble opinion) of this package, folks are eagerly waiting in line to buy one.

Out of curiosity, do any of those "in the know" who are following this thread know of any comparable guided-angle packages?

Did you manage to get one???

I just got the regular Worksharp today and man this thing works great! I got the one with the extra rods so it was like $120 but well worth it. Sharpened 6 blades tonight and all of them are hair shaving sharp.

The Hapstone R2 standard is an excellent system:

If you prefer Work Sharp, then you can upgrade the regular Precision adjust with the Leading Edge universal upgrade that Gritomatic sells. For support, the V-block. For 6 inch stones, the Leading Edge 6 inch stone holder. This will give you a similar system as the Professional Precision adjust, but you'll be able to do much more with it - like sharpen scissors etc.

Are you now on some sort of waiting list so you can get one at future drops.?
not a waiting list, just an email notification alerting me when it is in stock. anyone interested can signup for the same thing

Thanks. Bad business model in my way of thinking. If you went onto an actual purchase waiting list they would know how successful they are and work out their production numbers. And is just good customer service.
