Would you make this hike?

Mister you are a better man than I. No way would I even think about that , I'd wait by the tram and happily look at the pics you take.

I did something nowhere near the scale of that but it was terrifying enough to scare me away from 'home made' looking "trails" like that for good.
It was probably 20 years back near Santa Cruz , a few of us had gone driving , looking for a cool place to hike , found this fence near a road near the ocean , hopped it and discovered a really neat place we didnt know existed , part of the "trail" though was about a foot wide hugging a huge boulder on which the other side was about a 30 foot drop into some nasty looking , crashing ocean water , I was certain I was going into the drink.
We found a much safer way back :D

That is insane. I did not know there was via ferrata in China. It does not seem to be exactly via ferrata, as in VF, the participants usually where a harness, etc in case of a slip.
I have been rockclimbing for 19 years, and would far rather go straight up the cliff relying on my own gear and skill than walk on those planks holding chains.
That being said....I'll go!

Even worse, who built the path? And the houses at the top?

That's the key. I doubt that install was OSHA approved. Don't think I'd trust my life to that construction.

Another question: Who's the dumbass who took his/her hands off the ropes/chains in order to take pics? :D

Looks like an accident waiting to happen, rusted metal, low grade anchor
bolts, plank boards deteorating before your eyes.....but I would be love to give it a try .

I'm a bit out of shape (read beer gut and smoker) , but I'd do that climb in a heartbeat. Can't go through life being afraid of every little thing! :D -Matt-

HELL YES!!!! At least I would attempt it. Of course the GF says I'd be doing it alone....

Looks like there would be plenty of folks waiting at the tram enough to play a few hands of poker at least.

Would I do it? Well... if I also had some experience in BASE jumping, and equipment for said jump.

And now:
1) Which poor bastards live up there?
2) Did you take the same route down?
3) What's the fatality rate?

Question number 3 was my very first thought when I saw these pictures. How many people fall each year?... (And how often does someone freeze up on one of those ledges?)

This pic ought to make your heart race.

Look Ma! No hands!
