Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

From our friend Gary @Gary W. Graley, this most extraordinary knife. From 2001, this Grand Daddy Barlow measures 5" closed. The scales are without a doubt the most beautiful I've seen. Gary did a much better job at capturing their depth in his post but you'll get the idea

A true safe queen, this will get some pocket time on state occasions, but unlike all my other knives it will never be used, only shown.

I like the CASE Pen a lot GT, a great pocket-friend.

Regards, Will
I agree! Easy pocket carry!

Very nice, GT! Are you going to cut some fruit with that little Case? I like the way a patinaed blade contrasts with the yellow handles.

I've also got one of those Okapi Biltong knives. Pretty cool example of a rustic working knife.
Great haul GT. Esp. like the blue bone Case.
Will, Matt, r8shell, & Tom, thanks for sharing my joy over the new knives. :)

r8shell, I've been using the Case pen and the Okapis in the kitchen for about a week, and all are starting to generate some protective patina. I can see the patina on the main blade in the pic I posted with main blade open, but that may be because I know it's there. Unfortunately, I think I became overconfident in my attitude toward carbon steel, since I've never really had any rust issues in the past. But apparently the pen blade on my yeller Case had water splash on it when I rinsed off the main blade after use on food. When I opened the pen for a photo session, there was very noticeable rust on the blade tip and the tang stamp! :( I removed most of it with some 0000 steel wool, but I can still see some in this pic:

One of the things I really like about the Okapis is the "external" backspring.:cool::thumbsup: I think I have a better understanding of how a slip joint works from playing with the Okapis.

Tom, your big abalone daddy Barlow is truly opulent!!:thumbsup::cool:

Just got home with this one a couple of hours ago. Slim, light, well centered blade, backspring is flush in all three positions (open, half stop, and closed). Peach Seed Jigged Burnt Amber Bone Swayback Gent, designed by Tony Bose (TB61117 SS). Very happy with it! :D

(What appears to be a satin finish is just the out of focus reflection of the white ceiling.)

Yeah, that can happen. From time to time I'll have to use some steel wool and oil to clean a blade. The backsprings are stainless on the newer Case cv knives, so at least you don't have to worry about that.

5K Qs 5K Qs , Gary, I would just go ahead and do a forced patina to blend it in. Clean and dry the blades with some rubbing alcohol. Heat up some white or apple cider vinegar in the microwave for one minute and then stand the open knife in the vinegar tips down for about a minute or so, or until the blades get evenly dark. Don't worry if they look black. After removing from the vinegar, rinse with water to neutralize. then wipe the blades with some WD-40 on a rag or very fine Scotch-Brite (gray, not the green pads) until you achieve the desired light gray patina. oil the joints and you're done.

Here are some knives that came to me this week.
1) My first Case "yeller" knife, a Pen knife in yellow Delrin and CV steel:

2) A Navy blue bone stainless Case mini copperhead with wharncliffe main:

GT... what are your initial thoughts on the pen vs the mini copperhead? I have (and like) the pen, but was looking around at some similar knives online, the mini w/ wharncliffe being one of them.

So you are the lucky guy... Saw that one on Todd's thread. I am just going to have to get me a blue Micarta TAD one of the days.
Yes I am :) Thanks !
Couldn't resist this one and had to have her ! I've been drooling over Todd's beautiful works of Art for months and couldn't take it any longer lol .

I have two of Todd's creations, both catches on the exchange. Can't say enough about them. A. Shearer's blue TAD us a bit of a Grail for me.

I got lucky at an estate sale yesterday. Picked these up for a song.
Shrade+ LB7UH. Could be an SFO: no serial number and the logo on the bolster is that of a medical clinic in town.

I've enhanced this image to better appreciate the 'Mora' inscription in the slip.

They weren't properly cared for so will never be museum pieces. But, cleaned up they'll be worthy additions to the stable.
