Hi All,

I have found a new (new to me) online retailer for knives (and other gear). I was wondering if some here have had experience with them. Are they good to deal with? They have good prices, but I'd like to know what others think.

www.yourcornerstore.com

Thanks,
Mike

Ah, I see, this should be in the Good, Bad and Ugly.

Sorry :o

Could a moderator move this for me?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the feedback guys, looks like I might pass on YourCornerStore...

They did not respond to my email inquiry about Maxpedition products (which they used to carry), so I won't buy from them. Too many vendors who are willing to talk to me. This does not mean they are Ugly. Just means that I won't buy from them. :)

yourcornerstore has really good prices and decent communication but their shipping times are slow. I ordered a knife on April 7th and it wasn't shipped until the 13th. I also received either a wrong tracking number (USPS Priority Mail) or they shipped it to the wrong place, because the package now shows that it arrived in California today. Hopefully this is just a wrong tracking number even though I did receive the number directly from Mr. Cassidy.

This isnt the worst shipping I have dealt with but I have had better.

They say that their processing time is 48 hours, which seems really high to me already, but I ordered 4 days ago and it still doesn't show that they shipped my order (Kabar Becker Necker and a Sharpmaker). I hope it gets here tomorrow but I don't have high hopes.

I have placed several orders from yourcornerstore.com. I have been extremely impressed. They almost always have the lowest prices I can find and usually have things in stock. The one time I pre-ordered, the item was at my door step a week before expected. I have always had fast shipping and excellent communication.

My experience getting two spydies and a small lock-back was excellent--great prices, fast shipping, good and fast communication in response to a shipping question, everything just as it should be. I recommend them, plus I'm pretty sure you can currently get a discount by way of nutnfancy of youtube fame (quick google should point you to the appropriate video). I'm a fan, except they seem to be eternally sold out of benchmades.

I ordered a Felinx TK11 flashlight and it was on backorder. The ETA date kept pushed back and I asked them to cancel my order. I got an e-mail that said my order was canceled. However, one month after my order was canceled, I still didn't get the refund. I had to contact my creditcard issuing bank and had the bank reverse the money back to me.

After looking at some posts, it seems that I'm not the only one who waited more than a month to get refund from yourcornerstore.com.

I have mixed experience with them. Their prices are good overall, but they don't respond quickly to emails and they are slow to ship. My current order is showing in stock for all items and is sitting at 5 days processing so far. My other order took around 5 days to ship from order placement.

Update: I was able to talk to Mike on the phone (Thursday) and it turns out one of my items went out of stock after placing my order. They never notified me - he said they are working on fixing their online ordering so this happens less often. He changed my order status to Warehouse notified, so hopefully my order will ship by Monday.

yourcornerstore.com is noooo good. Stay away from them. Really! So many ethical & responsive Sellers out there these days, why waste your time fighting for your money back and non-delivery of promised goods?

I purchased 2 Spydercos from them in the last 2 weeks. Both were shipped the next day, and arrived at my door 2 days later, for a grand total of 3 days from order to arrival. I purchased a third Spydie on Sunday, and it arrived today. However, when I placed the order, their site "hung up" and I never got an order confirmation. I tried again a couple hours later, it worked, and I got my order confirmation email. Well it turned out that my CC got charged twice, but I only received one knife. In addition, their "# in stock" tally on their site only showed the one less that I ordered, from Sunday until now, leading me to believe it was a true duplicate payment, and I didn't order 2 knives.

Anyway, I just called them a little while ago, and literally 10 minutes later, I had an email confirmation saying it was a duplicate payment and the amount would be refunded. The woman on the phone (Rose I think???) was extremely nice, helpful, and apologetic. I'll update this if the credit isn't put back on my card within a couple days, but all looks well.

Overall, maybe a small fluke headache, but very well worth your business IMO.

My two experiences were less than desirable.. Both times I ordered - my items were backordered for months but my credit card was charged immediately after ordering. Shipping costs were extraordinarily high for one particular order. There was no response to my emails to inquire why the shipping would be so much. I called to ask about the shipping cost and was hung up on. The hassle was not worth the lower item price and the unbelievably high shipping cost on one order offset any savings for me.

If you cancel and order they wont refund your money until you threaten that you are going to start a dispute with the credit card company. They do have great prices, but are totally unethical and won't be getting any more business from me.... ever.

Several months ago I (pre)ordered a Spyderco Blue Manix 2. The knife was on backorder, with an anticipated ship date about 2 weeks from the date I ordered. Anyway, to make a short story longer, the ship date came and went with no knife or communication. About 2 weeks after the anticipated "in stock" date, I sent them an email inquiring about the status of my knife. About 2 weeks after that I received an email stating that they received only 100 of the 500 knives they ordered, and my order was not to be filled and had been canceled. About 2 weeks later I received a refund.

To the best of my knowledge, this knife was a sprint run with only 500 to be produced. It's probably not reasonable to assume that Spyderco would sell a sprint run to only 1 online store, but I really don't know. It seems to me that this seller perhaps oversold what he knew he would actually receive. Only he will ever know this. At the end of the day, it's not a really BIG deal...this guy got to use my money for a couple of months. The bigger deal for me is that I didn't get the knife that I really wanted, and now it is too late to get it elsewhere. So, to sum up my (long) short story, I am very disappointed with this store and it is highly unlikely that I will ever order from www.yourcornerstore.com again. Like others have said, there are so many other above board operations out there that there is no point in wasting time on those that don't have the highest standards.
