Update: 2/25/2011: I FOUND IT!
So, back in October, if I recall correctly, I orderd and recieved my first, real traditional slip-joint knife, a Queen Canoe D2 in birdseye maple. Just like most others here, i was underwhelmed with the factory edge, but a few minutes with a belt sander and a strop and it was perfect. I loved it. The birdseye maple is a beautiful wood. Fit and finish were very good, although not perfect. The D2 really impressed me. This was my first and, so far, only experience with this steel, and wow, does it hold an edge!
Anyway, Thursday last, we had to come in early for work, to do inventory. I had my trusty canoe sitting in my watch pocket, ready for duty, or so I thought. Unfortunately, the first time I went to use it, it was gone. I had a backup, of course, a Byrd Raven that saw a lot of use that day. So, I figured the canoe must have dropped out of my pocket in the car, or maybe at home before I left. Not really worried yet. After work, I search my car, my wife's car, my house, front yard, bedroom, living room, garage, all weekend. No canoe.
Monday, I get to work, and search the warehouse, hallways, and my office, desk, chair, etc. No canoe.
So, I'm really bummed. I loved that knife. I could cut cardboard all day and not have to touch the edge.
My wife just rolls her eyes if i mention it. She doesn't understand the sickness. So, I have to come here for sympathy.
Oh well. Guess I'll have to buy another one when I can.
