Bad Zero Tolerance warranty care

F484E443-EF72-4C0F-A5BE-063E30B60A4C.jpeg I understand it can be upsetting to send a knife back for repair and not being happy with the results.......but sometimes shit happens.
Call them up, explain your concerns and give them another shot. Don’t e mail.
I have an AC business. Installed a unit the other day, it was 100° out and the job was torture. Unit was located on the side of the house, no shade or breeze.
Torture......check temp reading in the pic.
Got it done, collected and left.
Homeowner called a few hours later pissed, house wouldn’t get below 80°. Went back and checked.....unit was fine. WTF.
Told her to give it more time.
Bout 9:00 that night she called back.....really pissed.
I went back. Turns out her thermostat was programmed incorrectly, by her husband, and it kept shutting the unit off. Sometimes shit happens.
Give them another shot before condemning them.

I sent my 0770cf in to them, the stop pin was coming loose in the left scale. Came back perfect (I think they replaced the scale) but they sharpened it and it was not good. It went to them sharp. My mistake, I should have taped the blade but oh well. I resharpened it, and it's great now, although I have lost some blade life because of it. I know I can get a new blade, so no biggie. Still plenty of life left in it!

I have 5 ZT knives, and no real issues with any. I have no doubt they would take care of me if I have to send another in. They have a good reputation and I don't think they want to ruin that.

I guess that settles my lock bar concern then. I’m new to knives, so I really appreciate y’all clearing that up for me. As for the chip, I probably will just send it to a professional sharpener here on the forums (which I am new to as well). Would anyone happen to have any suggestions?

I can vouch for the excellence of Petunia D. Feeble Petunia D. Feeble 's services, and I've heard only good things about @razor-edge-knives.

Josh is busy making stuff; send it to me and I'll get you squared away. No charge for this one, just cover shipping. You can email me at tlesharpening@gmail.com.

I sent in a knife with an off-centered blade (which is not as a big issue to me) and detent rock in closed position (which bothered me more). The knife came back with a centered blade obviously by loosening the pivot because there was too much side blade play;:thumbsdown: the detent rock seemed to be gone at first. As soon as I tightened the pivot, the blade went back to being off centered AND the detent started rocking:(

I have not re-contacted ZT warranty, partly because I am not confident that they can or are willing to fix the issue of detent rock. I think they would have to replace the lockbar, which might be too costly for the manufacturer to do. IDK.
I would contact them on this. If it is suppose to be covered by warranty, they should no matter what needs to be done, including replacing the knife if necessary-which likely would not be needed. Part of what we pay for is the warranty and I expect the manufacturer to honor it, but mistakes can happen.
In this case it seems they corrected your 2 problems, but in doing so created a 3rd that they missed.
I don't abuse warranties, but do expect manufactures to honor them.

I would not say its fixing the off centering problem by loosing the pivot, so as to introduce blade play, but I got what you mean.

You raised an interesting question though: is detent rock (again, it is up and down blade movement in fully closed position) a warranty isuue or not? One would argue yes, for a $200+ knife, although it does not seem to introduce a safty or functional issue. Also, this issue appears in some Spyderco Military folders as well (there were at least 2 previous threads talking about it) and it did not seem to bother some people.

I might take your and palonej palonej advice to give ZT another chance to fix it.

I’d be displeased with them for sending me back a damaged blade. I’d ask for a new blade, not one that has the problem sharpened out.
