Folders that are strong enough for batoning?

While I have no experience with this one the cold steel 5 Max may also be an option. Although it looks to be quite a heavy beast, so maybe a nice, fixed blade would be an option. Good luck on your hunt which I find to be quite fun to do. More knives yeah! šŸ˜

By the way I am not upset with a folder for a bug out bag.

Especially if you needed it quickly and are hanging around other people. Say during an evacuation or something.

My suggestion; use a fixed blade. Folding knives are for light duty cutting only even though the makers of 'tactical' and 'hard use' knives will make you believe something else.
Well...
I generally don't bother batonning with folders, but I bought the Medford Deployment 187 Drop-point Tanto specifically to test out the "hard-use" claims...

It'll chop down a small tree, and batons just fine for reasonably sized wood.
And the lock-up is still solid and no worse for wear.

So while it is tempting to dismiss all "hard use" ability claims as simply marketing, well, not the case.

Disclaimer: Fixed blade still better choice. Not responsible for anyone's missing fingers if they wail on a folder and it closes on them. ;)
