Another Paypal Discussion

I said I respectfully disagree and that tattling is petty, because it is. You can speculate about raising fees all you want, it wont change anything, nothing said here will change anything. People will continue to do what they want. To be clear, I don't condone their actions, so don't bitch at me about it!

No need to use the potty mouth. I wouldn't call that respectfully disagreeing. Sorry if you don't like to hear how things work.

This sums it up:
No skin off your nose if someone else is cheated.

I dunno... If I saw someone stealing chocolate bars out of a convenience store I frequent, I would say something. First, to the thief(if I felt they deserved a warning)... and if I saw it again, to the store staff. I don't see the pettiness in that. If the policy/rules are reasonable, self-policing can help ensure the service remains available.

I don't think Spark would appreciate a percentage of BF members using an unethical loophole to skim 3% off their annual dues.

And what would happen to those chocolate bars after they are all stolen? The next box will be more expensive and watched more closely. Simple really.

True, but would you tell someone if a kid ate a grape at the store, because thats more of a fair comparison to a 3 dollar fee to PayPal. I personally wouldn't get involved, that's all I was saying, not whether it is right or wrong.

There you go!

That grape isn't guaranteeing you recourse in the potential loss of hundreds or thousands of dollars. Not even close to an accurate metaphor.

It might be wise to let this one go as the majority of those who frequent this thread and the moderation staff have paypals back.

and I wouldn't personally involved either. Not worth my time and may not even result in the intended consequence. But if others want to pursue it, more power to them!

2.9% fee.... I sold (4) $450 knives today @ 2.9%. That's $52.20.... not a grape.

Is there a magic ratio for how much is acceptable to take compared to how much money is in the till? That would be news to me.

Exactly what I was thinking. That and we aren't kids, not all of us anyway.

Yeah I'm guessing that is a grape to PayPal, and when you say "acceptable" you make it sound like I said it was ok, I didn't, the truth is I just don't care. the self-righteousness in this thread is ridiculous.

Then why post if you don't care? And who is the self righteous one who on principal is above exposing people who are liars and thieves? We could continue this forever.

And what if I don't like grapes? What if I don't even like fruit? What if I don't eat anything but puppies hanging from tiger nipples? How does the grape being eat by the kid impact me? It doesn't. Terrible analogy. I do need to use paypal to participate in this hobby at the level I do. I don't need to eat grapes. Paypal insures me the protection I need. Those circumventing it through lying and cheating hurt my future opportunities to us paypal. I'm sure you will disagree but you are wrong. Sour grapes as it were...

I just don't understand why people detest PP so much, and have no problem basically stealing, and not following their simple rules...

If someone feels that PP is Communist , and feel they are getting screwed by paying a few dollars, don't use it. It's that simple...

If you publicly set payment for a knife, and specify that you will accept only PP Gift, OR pay via PP Goods but find it necessary to add fees on top of the price,
it tells me that not only are you to damn lazy to do simple math, you also have character that is less than desireable for many of us here...

Some people use the excuse that it is only a few bucks, and that may be true, depending on the price of the item, but in the end,
it is about more than the money. Some people don't put money above ethics...

Stealing is stealing. All the justification in the world doesn't change that or make it right. If you do it, you are a thief. This isn't an opinion but a simple fact. If you are okay being labeled a thief then feel free to go on stealing from PP, but don't waste time trying to explain why it's justifiable. The greatest truths are simple.

Ok, did you read my posts, I didn't say it's OK or that I do it.

ebay is sincerely managed with a non American communist ethical base.

You can buy and sell houses and pornography on ebay, but not butterfly knives, automatic knives, or a variety of gun related parts.

ebay fees have gone from about 1% to 10% over the last 15 years. Higher overhead than a retailer with a string of buildings.

gunbroker fees have gone from 1% to 3% over the last 15 years, guns, autos, and butterfly knives welcome there.

If you wish to honor ebay based on personal ethical conviction that is very respectable. I have no desire to argue about the ethic or motive of such...but I sincerely feel ebay is an anti American communist sort of entity.

I am addicted to trading blades, so I use them...and I do mean use them. Pay a lot of fees, but avoid what I can--not out of selfish monetary addiction--but to beat their BS communist rules as a sort of combative victory hoorah, help legit men in other places enjoy an over governed blade, and fund my addiction.

I am surprised by how much condemnation is shared here re this subject, but I here you and see some legitimacy in it, and it makes me consider my orneriness.

You have no idea what in the hell you are talking about. You haven't the slightest clear what communism is or what it means. How entitled people are and the limitless excuses for their entitlement continues to amaze me.

I knew you were gonna like that. Are you on the phone with PayPal turning him in? Because you were saying that's the right thing to do, right?
