Random question . . . can anyone identify the wood/tree that I used in those photos? No idea what the leaves looked like before I got the stick!

Okay, it was cold and windy, so I made my first attempt at a small carving.
Let me know what you think. My fine motor skills are not the best anymore.
Top picture, what I started with. Bottom picture is suppose to be a rooster. LOL.

Looks alot like choke cherry , but without it in my hands or smelling it it is tough to say for certain.

I agree with mewolf1. Looks like choke cherry bark.
