Putting the collectling/hobby factor aside, this is the set up I came up with that should satisfy at least 99% of our knife need, whether urban/outdoor:

Victorinox Soldier
Spyderco FRN Delica PE
Cold Steel Bushman

And all for less than $100.

What's yours?

BM 710
Swisschamp

My collection's pretty spartan, but I'd never trade those two fine equipment for anything.

Spyderedge by Spyderco and Dragontooth by Emerson?
edit:
f...k  I haven't read precisely. IMO outdoor combo should consist of one knife for harder work and second for the rest or urban combo - one for sd and second for utility/office. I often carry three knives - Chinook II, Goddard (combo edgde) and Victorinox Explorer or Spartan

edit2:
as far as we talking about folders of course...

Lately it's:

Swiss Tool Spirit
Kershaw Vapor
(edc)

Becker Crewman
(for harder work)

I change my combos all the time. Lately this is what I'm carrying:

Outdoors
-Victorinox Farmer
-Fixed blade designed by me and made by a very talented local knifemaker.
-Opinel #9 or Buck 112 for back-up.

Depending on the equipment I'm carrying, I might take a multitool (Vic SwissTool or Leatherman Wave).

Urban (this is the one that changes the most, since I have access to all my knives):
-Multitool (in my backpack)
-SAK (lately it's been a Huntsman or a Soldier)
-Locking folder (I change this one everyday, lately I've been using a Buck 110 and EKA/Wenger Woodshunter a lot, but my Spyderco Viele and BM Griptilian have seen lots of action, too).

I'm still looking for the perfect combo, I hope I never find it. Looking for it and buying new toys is so much fun!

FB- either a TOPS Prairie Fox, Kagas Katne by HI or a Chuck Gedraitis patch knife.

Thin cutter- either a Wegner Highlander or an EKA 88.

This is what I keep coming back to.

Frank

1. BM 921 Switchback
2. Ontario Rat7 w/kershaw firestarter, leatherman supertool in the front pouch of the sheath.

Victorinox Recruit
Balisong of some type(one of my favs is the basic Typhoon)

If I had these two on me all the time, I'd be in good shape everywhere, I went.

-RM

Vic Spartan
UK Penknife stuning blade and conforms with UK carry law
Delica for home or when I can justify a locking blade (I know UK law:barf: )

Vic 4" paring knife
Vic 8" Cooks knife
Vic 8" Bread knife

Got to have a Sharpmaker to keep a decent edge :D
That lot would see me right.
I've no real use for a large fixed blade living in an urban jungle.

I feel bad for anyone who is restricted like that :( Really makes you wonder what the hell the Politicians were thinking.

Anyways-

Small Wenger (Backpacker?) SAK- Missing scales
Spyderco Endura- (recent replacement for Buck 110)
Swamp Rat Battle RAt
And a tiny Case Mini Blackthorn for scraping at crap I dont want on my other blades
;)

Right now its a Spyderfly in my pocket and a CRKT First Strike in the boot.

Benchmade Doug Ritter Grip or 710HS
Victorinox Hunstman with LED
Swiss Card in wallet
Victorinox Midnight Manager II on key ring.

Urban combo:
- office: Wenger Tinker (?) & Spyderco Rescue
- home/out of office: Wenger Tinker & BM Grip 551

Outdoor: Victorinox Nomad, LM Wave, Spydi Endura & any of my fixed blades (last purchased BM Rant DPT, didn't used it yet)

in-town EDC: BM 551 (griptillian)
wilderness: Greco X-plorer

However, I've been wanting to tweak this a bit. In the near-future, that is to say, when I've finished making it  , I'd like to start carrying a small-ish fixed blade for heavy-use EDC duties, along with a small multi-tool, like the smallest Leatherman with pliers (Squirt P4), and a pocket laser, like the Fallkniven U2. In the wilderness, I still like my Greco, but I want to add a multi-tool (Leatherman Supertool 200). So, my intended-in-the-future, when-funds-are-available-list will be:

in-town EDC:
Fallkniven U2
Leatherman Squirt P4
self-made small fixed blade (i'll attempt to post pics when done)

wilderness EDC:
Greco X-plorer (until I make my own, of course  )
Leatherman Supertool 200

City: Spyderco Native (serrated) and SAK Spartan.
Country: Swamprat Camp Tramp (w/kydex) and Gerber or Leatherman tool.
Very basic but sometimes less is more as my primary survival kit (fishing vest in trunk of car) also packs a SAK w/locking main blade and that EXCELLENT wood/bone saw. Secondary belt kit holds a Cold Steel (non-serrated) folding Recon. Also keep small axe in trunk so I feel my bases are pretty much covered.

Urban carry:
Stockman or Slim Trapper in RFP.
Buck Mayo or Kershaw Bump in backpack or coat pocket.
Leatherman XE6 in backpack.

Rural carry:
Same as above with a Bark River fixed blade (various models) added.

I rotate knives thru my Fatboy and pants pocket:

Folders: Spyderco Para Military PE, Lum Chinese PE, Large Sebenza
Fixed: Busse Active Duty, Dozier Razorbac-(Merc Harness).
MultiTool: haven't picked one up yet.
Lighting: SureFire E2d

and a bunch of other "stuff", I love this Fatboy from Maxedition :)

Dozier Toothpick

Crawford One Hand Knife

Gerber CF SL 3.25

Schrade TRT Trapper

Spyderco Police Necklace

1. Buck 110 or opinel #7-8 (110 preferably

2. Vic soldier or spartan (soldier preferably)

3. Frost Mora
