AR-15 ESEE Knife Mount

A member on scrapyard forums recently made a killer bayonet mod with a Scrapyard regulator, and it is awesome!!!

I think it would be cool just to have one (not being military my self, I still have some guns that "need" bayonets just because they do).

The mod on the Scrapyard Regulator involved some serious metal work making the steel handle for the mortised tang design. For a full tang rat, you would have to do some serious modding on the handle.

Here is the thread with the mod. the handle is actually layers of steel riveted and bolted around the tang. Impressive thought and work went into it, and I would absolutely love one for one of my bayonet lug equipped rifles, just because there is one out there, and I think it is awesome.

I assumed you were talking about modding an ESSE so you could use it as a bayonet.

If you are actually asking if you should mount the sheath some where on your gun, as a means of carrying the knife on the gun (but not as a bayonet), then I agree with the naysayers. No reason to mount the knife to your gun, just add weight and something extra to snag on stuff.

That is badass! Does look like alot of work went into this but, worth it. Also looks like he gets plenty of use out of it as well. I'll check out the link.

Thanks bro!

there is a market for it :)

Problem with making bayonets is we export a lot of knives overseas. Once you make a bayonet it's classed different and you have to make sure you have the right export license and stay within the law because it is legally "arms" once you put the bayonet lugs and mounts on the blade.

Could you produce them just for the good ol USA? They would make for a great AR add on!

If you're dying for an ESEE on your rifle, get an Izula and use soe 100mph tape to attache it to your buttstock (right side if your right handed).

Strider & ZT make a nice looking bayonet. but it's very expensive.

personally, i'll keep the blade on me or in a pack. but some of the YHM Phantoms have an aggressive front edge and it would suck to be on the receiving end of a muzzle strike from one. they're also decent flash hiders, much better than an A2 birdcage and don't really add any weight.

I'm not a pro shooter..but isn't it a little easier to carry, shoulder and fire a rifle with less weight to it (and less crap hanging off it to snag)?

i want that cz, and the bayonet to go with it, have to get custom kydex for it though.

I have a SP-01, and it's an excellent pistol, great ergonomics, and highly accurate. The trigger takes a bit of wearing in, the double action is a bit gritty at first, but smoothes out nicely with use. It is a bit heavy for concealed carry IMO, but i have found that the smaller lighter CZ P-01 makes a great carry gun.

OP,
If you feel that a secondary blade would be nice to have, I seriously recommend getting a dedicated bayonet. I have an OKC-3S, the bayonet used the USMC, and highly recommend it.

im sure you could just make some kind of mount that bolts to the factory scales holes. just take the scales off and bolt it right onto the knife.

Dave that's perfect, I'll take two, just in case I loose one from the muzzle flash melting off your custom mil-spec mount...

Thanks bro!

That is custom, Magpul branded duct tape. It is reinforced with hair directly from Costa's beard. It won't melt.

Just buy a pouch that holds 1 30round mag that mounts to rear stock, then slip a PSK & ESEE3/Izula/IzulaII into it instead of a spare mag
