Axe, Tomahawk & Hatchet Photo Thread

Just got this CT Camp Carver in, getting a little linseed right now, it just felt so dry and looked pale. Very nice piece of premium hickory, grain orientation is perfect and so is the grind. Shaving sharp too. 1.7lb head on 16” feels like it would go deep on a strike.IMG_6341.jpeg

I would like to know more and see more of this.
Thanks for your interest. I made the head out of a 10inch table saw blade. It is mounted into a hickory saddle axe handle. When trying to figure out “how” to mount it and retain symmetry, this is what I came up with. I drilled a hole through the handle the same size as the opening in the blade. The main wedge is a chunk of hickory hand cut into a round disk that is slightly tapered (the side with the cut) and cut half way through so a wedge could be driven into it so it would expand and lock the disk and head into place. I then seated the head, drove the disc in, hammered the wedge, ensured it was snug, and filed and sanded it all to fit. I gave it to an old friend, as he and I used that blade in a saw that we did some pretty memorable work with. I don’t really have any other pics of it. But, it won’t be the last one I make. I made this, a tomahawk, and a knife out of the one single blade.

Sandvik 3.5 pounder on a 26” (I believe) hickory haft. Pocket webbing off a Louisville Slugger glove for the overstrike guard. Blade cover made out of an old belt. I like it. IMG_4161.jpeg
