Blade blanks

Hi guys :)

First let me apologize for being out of the loop lately. Angi and I are climbing Mt. St. Helens (again) in a couple days, and then we're getting married on July 27... so it's been really hectic around here! I've spent all my time working in the shop and my spare time getting ready for the wedding, so my time to sit still at the computer has been very short.

I have quite a few blades available. Most of the ones I have sold in the past were the result of clearing out blades that I didn't think I'd have time to finish.

The blades in this thread were specifically made to sell as blanks. You can fit up a handle, sharpen it, and have a fine cutting tool. I would like to start dividing my shop time between my custom knife orders, and making blades. I enjoy making them.

I put together a video to give a glimpse into how I make this type of blade, and hopefully show you why my blades are on a completely different level from what you can buy from the supply houses for $20-30. It's not an exciting video, but I hope you'll find it interesting. :)

These three were a special order from a group of guys on another forum. I made these to their design. I'm a pretty firm believer in a thin, full flat grind for most applications...but these scandi type grinds are wicked cutters. I decided to stick with the original grind and see how folks like them. :)

SOLD- jbizarre 114- ATS-34 (Paul Bos ht)

Blade- 3-7/8"L x 1-1/16"W x 0.143 (tang tapers down to 0.020) $85 +$5 shipping U.S.

SOLD- woodysone 115- S30V (Paul Bos ht)
OAL- 8-7/16"
Blade- 3-7/8"L x 1-1/16"W x 0.152 (tang tapers down to 0.025) $100 +$5 shipping U.S.

SOLD- PKDA 116- S30V (Paul Bos ht)
OAL- 8-15/16 (this one is pretty big)
Blade- 4-3/8"L x 1-1/16"W x 0.146 (tang tapers down to 0.025) $105 +$5 shipping U.S.

edited to add***

I realized the pics above don't really show what the blades look like very well. So I snapped some shots outside, in hand to give a different look at what these blades are like. Even though I only used 2 of the blades for these shots, they are all ground and finished like this (other than the Scandi grinds ;) ).

Shoot, I forgot to mention that I can most likely ship multiple blades in one package! Please ask me about it if you are interested in multiple blades so I can make sure. :)

Jack- I owe 'ya 5 bucks! Sorry I forgot to mention the shipping thing before.

If you post any larger blades I'll buy one!

...and congrats on the marriage.

Figured I'd throw these shots up for kicks. This a blade just like most of the ones above, that I finished out. Please keep in mind, when I'm going to hand finish a blade like this, I do part of the finish grinding with my 9" disc sander which greatly speeds up the HAND SANDING process. I didn't do that with the blade blanks, because it would make them cost more and most folks don't want to hand sand the blade anyway.

Any of the above blades could be hand finished like this one, but it would take some serious determination and elbow grease. :)
