BLADE SHOW 2025- WHO'S GOING?!

Crazy long drive in some doubly crazy traffic, only positive thing was the rain held off.

Saturday evening and I am Home safe, laying down spread eagle on my front lawn, happy to be finally home after driving 1,980 miles a three day span!
You probably can hear the heels of my ruby red slippers clicking together.

My ‘plan’ should have been written better, I highlighted several folks which I did get to see but totally missed many others that I remembered when I got home…duh!

Got this new Barlow from Jack Wolf knives

And this one from North Mountain blade

G2

Bottom one has Super Sexy, profile lines.... Nice

You'll have to research on the various booking sites for best value. I booked at the Embassy Suits as it is nearby and offers a free shuttle. best would be to get a group together and rent an airBnB.
Thanks. Are the overall dates of it Friday Saturday and Sunday? or Thursday Friday and Saturday? Or just Friday and Saturday... im not 100% sure

I noticed Buck didn't have that exhibit in the main hallway this year.

Aftermath Monday, back to the grind with my Blade Show scores...here's a little preview of what I picked up😁

-Rhidian Gatrill "Rhiddler D/A"
-Hawk Knives "T.O.A.D"
-Midgards/Sprave "Hirschfänger"
-Terry Renner Assisted Opener

I think I was pretty lucky with my haul. I would have liked to run across a few more people...definitely more people from here, would have been cool to have organised something to meet up.
  • The Hogue Ritter wasn't at Blade, but was sent to my hotel, have wanted one for years, and now its in Magnacut, which is perfect for me. There was a bobble with shipping, but it was still waiting for me upon arrival. Thumbs up KnifeWorks!
  • The folks at Pops were great!! One of the young ladies was making a run back to their shop on Saturday night and was able to cut an otherwise un-packable 48" length of Procut in half for me! They also gave me good advice on using the new RazorStar 36 grit belt.
  • The folk at New Jersey Steel Baron were very friendly too, would have happily sold me more Magnacut, but I am not ready for more than a couple bits. I came in 6lb under my check-bag limit...but I don't know where I will get it heat treated yet. It was really nice to hear how Aldo is doing, having met him at 2011 Blade.
  • The Berg folder in carbon, titanium and Magnacut was something I kept circling back to eye up on Saturday. I have a nice chat with Matt, the maker, but I have not had good luck with knives purchased at Blade in the past, so I was hesitating and was thinking I would sleep on it and decide on Sunday...but I really liked it. Then at about 15 minutes from closing on Saturday my resolve cracked and I went and bought one. 1 of 50 :D They were boxing up and packing away, I thought just for the night, but the stand was unmanned every time I passed on Sunday, so that was a near miss indeed!
  • Darren at Contender Machine Works swapped emails with me in the run up to the show (when he certainly had a lot to think about) and he put aside a radius platen and chiller after offering a lot of advice.
  • I got the only K390 plain edge Endela that I saw at the show, out of the Spyderco display after 12:00 on Sunday. I wanted it as a gift for a buddy who had and lost a Gayle Bradley1. He loved because of the M4. I think steel-wise he will like this one.
  • I first saw afzelia xylay wood at WSSI in 2002, but none in 2004 or 2011, so when I saw that Greenberg Woods had it front and centre I had to get get a piece. Then it needed company, some curly acacia, curly narra, and my first bit of amboyna burl. This will move the needle on what is "special" in my wood collection and maybe make it easier for me to actually use some of the other bits I have been hoarding!
  • Beyond that, the Audacious Concept knife tool micro capsule was cool, I got an Exotac at a good price and cheaper than in the UK, finally found a semi fancy pen that I liked, a double lock version from Nottingham Tactical, and lastly a dinky little induction hardened single bevel all in orange from Peltonen Knives that will be great for spoon carving, and teaching kids to whittle.
