You have issues... 🤣

My current family photo. I apologize for the poor lighting, but it has been raining hard here and there was almost no light. I’ve seen these “fan” or “clock” shots before from other members so I thought I’d give it a try.😊View attachment 1589122
Yikes!
I suppose you would need a much bigger log if you included all of your Stockmans.

Nice collection!

Mark

Beautiful picture bigfish64 bigfish64 ! And beautiful knives! The yellow bone, walnut, and the bear hunter (excellent tang stamp!) really stand out to me. I didn't realize that the hunter series of barlows were the same size/form as the newer modern Boker barlows! My little brother and I do a little turkey hunting... I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a Turkey Hunter barlow!

Thanks for sharing the pic!

Thanks Mark, they are a great little knives, and available, not a swipe at any other knife makers, just a fact.
Todd
But, an enjoyable one.

Usually.

IMHO

And the bad, bad enablers in this thread may have made me do a thing.

I'll find out next week.
OH NO! Old Herc not… “A thing”…what did you do? 😳

Thanks Brian, I think it was TheFactor TheFactor that I first saw post one of the hunters series. I picked up the bear cheap because it didn’t have a box. I like to have a box, but for me, it comes down to if I want the knife or not. I’ve never carried a box or used one to cut anything! 😄 There was a rabbit that went up the next week, it had the box, and went WAY past my limit. 😊
Good luck my friend! 👍

Nice! I’ve had good luck with Boker stag, can’t wait to see’em. 😎👍

It will be interesting, for sure. I'm kinda finicky with stag. And being such small knives, it doesn't really leave a lot of room for some of the interesting figuring stag can have.

I'm really looking forward to the red bone. If the photos I've seen are a good representation, some have a slightly translucent deep cranberry red color.

I'll post pics.

Here’s my little red bone pen. Terrible picture but it does have some of the contrast you mentioned.9CBAAE94-5AD5-4C79-9F98-46640B2CE0A9.jpeg

Looks decent. They seem to have a wide variation.
They do. The first one I saw was at a shop not quite an hour from me. It was entirely red, very red with no contrasting colors. I would describe mine more as wine with a fair amount of contrast. Hope you get a good one.👍

Thanks. I guess if I get a fire truck red I might have to try darkening the color.

Amazing collection, Todd. Congratulations.o_O👍👍
Thanks José, there might be a few more soon. 🤔 I think it might be awhile before they arrive though, at least that’s what I’m telling myself so I’m not stalking the mail carrier! 😂

Some weeks ago I purchased a Boker Solingen Trapper that according the seller's website was supposed to be stainless steel. As it turned out they were carbon steel blades. I have not received a reply to my email to the seller (a company).

I found a different seller that had a Trapper with SS blades and stag covers. I purchased that knife and have had it for a week now. A truly well made knife. 440C blades. I am not very knowledgeable about steels, don't know how well it will hold an edge but for food (the dedicated use) I believe it should work well.

Both blades have silky smooth action. The clip blade has a bit lower spring force than I would prefer but tolerable. The carbon steel blades in the first knife have higher spring force but also have higher friction making the blades sluggish to close.

This is my first experience with stag covers. I have never handled stag before but now I understand the attraction. Not only do they look great (I have no photo hosting so I guess I cannot post photos, they look similar to the seller's web site photos) but they have a texture that provides a secure non-slippery grip even when wet. The covers are quite thick. Is that typical of stag?

This is a very well crafted knife. I wish the first seller was accurate with their listing so I didn't waste that money.

Welcome to the Solingen thread Craig, sounds like the second trapper you got is a nice one. The Bokers made in Solingen are very nice knives. Too bad the first one wasn’t what you thought it was going to be, but you might want to try it out and watch the patina develop, you might find that you enjoy it, I know I and many others around here do. If you don’t care for it you can always sell it.
