Busse's website

2300 EST
I tried Eric's link to the Busse forum- it worked fine. And, I can access most of the links on the main forum page [ie- search, my profile, faq, etc], but NOT the main site link at the bottom of the page. This isn't too bad, though, since I wanted to get to the forum anyway.

Hi Everyone-

Can't reach the Busse site due to script errors when using my home computer via dial-up lines. My office machine is on a fractionated T1 and I can reach the site just fine.

I'd be more than happy to e-mail a screen capture of the error if the Webmaster wants to do an analysis.

Thanks,

I love when you computer guys talk your techno-babble.

From both locations stated above http://www.bussecombat.com does not open after multiple attempts. IE states "Opening page.....", but nothing ever opens. Not a firewall issue on my end either. Just an FYI.

Hey, how many of us that are unable to get to the site have Assault Shakers on order ;) :D It's a plot I tell you!!!

I can get to the forum, but not the root website from here in New York City. I tried a trace route and came up with this:

Tracing route to www.bussecombat.com [64.176.151.242]

over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <10 ms <10 ms <10 ms 172.16.1.29
2 <10 ms <10 ms <10 ms 63.83.138.1
3 31 ms <10 ms 16 ms Loopback0.GW2.NYC8.ALTER.NET [137.39.5.6]
4 16 ms <10 ms <10 ms 171.at-6-0-0.XR1.NYC8.ALTER.NET [152.63.18.158]
5 16 ms <10 ms <10 ms 183.ATM7-0.BR1.NYC8.ALTER.NET [152.63.23.169]

11 47 ms 15 ms 16 ms dca-edge-01.inet.qwest.net [205.171.9.86]
12 16 ms 16 ms 15 ms 65.113.64.30
13 15 ms 16 ms 16 ms 208.49.89.17
14 109 ms 109 ms 141 ms combatknives.com [64.176.151.242]
Trace complete.

It's resolving to combatknives.com which is also registered under Jerry's name. Still can't figure out why I can't get through from here though. Seems that the site is hosted by Alabanza, Inc., according to NeoTrace.

Good Evening Everyone-

Grnamin, I got the same information you posted when I did the trace....glad you posted because I didn't want to look too nerdy to the fellow forumites!

Terrapin Flyer, you just might be on to something! The Assault n' Pepper Shakers are off in their INFI lair in parts unknown and we can't get to the Busse site to kvetch. :p

To get back on topic, if I go straight to the Discussion Forums and bypass the main Busse URL, it connects fine. This is true for either dial-up or fractionated T1. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the trace route Greg. We are not having trouble getting on and therefore I don't believe our trace routes are valuable in establishing the difficulty.

Jerry

the Busse main page and knife links are coming up for me now :) but then again, I'm out west and I don't have either a pepper or assault shaker on order ;)

Here's the answer I just received from our server.

"We are currently experiencing a Distributed Denial of Service Attack on our servers. You may face difficulties in accessing your website."

I have no idea wha that means, but that's what I have been told. Any ideas?

It sounds like someone is trying to hack into the server. :barf: You probably made a lot of enemies with INFI.

Jerry,

Go check out Steve Gibson's website, grc.com. He is an industry-recognized expert on computer security, especially DDoS attacks. I'm confident you'll find some help. I hope your service provider is willing to help on this - without it, you may find yourself quite helpless.

This topic came up a couple of weeks back and I posted a somewhat long explanation of the mechanism used for DDoS attacks in the Community Center. If anyone's interested, it's at Email "Virus" Alert.

Good Luck,
Ray
