Carothers Performance Knives, Use & Abuse. Take 2

IMHO, with so much emphasis on lateral, tip and edge strength on the blade profile. It really doesn’t go with a handle designed to cut all day. A shiv or uf2 family would have been better for a niche market. If there is a way you can swing it as an option like the fk3 so you don’t fully commit and test the waters I’m in, but I have a problem.

Nate, if you decide to do it...you can do a limited run and we can draw numbers to see who the lucky ones are that get their number called. Unless you intend to do a large number of pieces, which may or may not appeal to the same amount of CPK aficionados. (You know, a leisurely sale.)

All of which is to say, do what you like. 🤣

I don't want to do the special programming and debugging for just, say, 50 of them. If I was going to do it, it would be hundreds.

I'm so unbelievably busy all the time it's terrible

As we have grown, the challenges have grown at least proportionally. You wouldn't believe what it takes just to keep eight machines working. The upshot is, once I have a process working I can leave it running for a while because we're no longer doing little batches. When you're doing a thousand at a time it takes months on a particular process, if it's running I can just leave it run and focus on other things.

Like those lengthwise grind double edge dagger ground Shivs. Oh my God.

I'm afraid my days of small batches are probably largely over. 😞

Unless it's something really cool that I want to do! 😁

If you do decide to run some "proto" FBFK pattern inventory to go along with your restocking BFK run??

I would most likely try and attempt to get a sample.

However, I still think that your larger Super Duty pattern is a much better choice for this type of "Fat Bastard" treatment.

After all the SDFK is already @ .250"!

I could see it selling and I think probably pretty well, but personally I fall into the "pass" on a crazy thick build and appreciate better cutting performance for 90% of my uses. And the MCs and HDFKs I have will more than handle anything I'll throw at them.

But, I will toast to anything that's fun for the crew, so if it makes you smile ... 🍻

Faint chants are heard in the back ground "SKINNER ... SKINNER ... SKINNER ... and one LIGHTWEIGHT/MEDIUM CHOPPER" is heard from way in the back ... suddenly the chanting stops as two half koreans streak through the compound flailing K20s, but pause long enough to refill their red solo cups as Nathan shoots a squirrel ... 8 times ... (why? you ask ... because that's all the rounds the Auto Mag holds) just another day at CPK.

Snip...

In order to remain to be the King of Cool, you will just have to do some small batches at times, like the lengthwise, like the Pseudo Hamon Ninja swords, like the piggly-wiggly poker and so on. Otherwise you will just be a middle aged dude with a bit of a beer belly, graying mane and a ponytail! This, you don't wanna be!

I see the nurse loosened your restraints again.

"Aw, Casinostocks ain't so bad...once you figure out what he's going on about. But I'd keep the restraints on, mind you."

Dude I'm telling you.

An Underwood .45 Winchester Magnum sending a 230 grain hollow point at 1600 ft per second is absolutely bananas. I mean, just an explosive energy transfer. Literally explosive. It's the damnedest thing

There's no shooting that squirrel more than once unless you gather up all the bits and pile it back together then shoot the pile again. But good luck finding all the bits, they went everywhere.

There was a head and the hind legs and some of the tail, connected with a few thin ribbons of skin.

There were no internal organs of any kind to be found and no spine at all. It completely exploded. It was the damnedest thing.

If you know what a squirrel looks like after being shot with a 12 gauge or an 5.56 AR-15, this was nothing like that. Nothing at all like that. It really is the damndest thing.

This gun makes me want to flap my hands, howl, and possibly piss myself.

Now you're making me want to post pictures on the random thought thread, and we all know that's a bad idea.
