ESEE Lite Machete

Next time try throwing the knife instead of the sheath, ok?

im a black belt in sheath throwing.. i can nail a canadian black bear right between the eye and drop him dead in 1 shot thanks to all the training i got from throwing machete at trees

Be careful batoning a Becker with the steel they use. Smack it with a baton and the blade will bend over like a paper clip. :D

LOL - I fair wail on my Beckers with a nice solid baton - I think that 1095 CroVan is my favourite steel, probably the only steel I like better than Rowan heat treated 1095. If I was worried about damaging my BK-7 I'd just take my BK-2 instead.

Some may call batoning a kind of abuse but I'd happily baton any of these: BK-2, BK-7, BK-9, ESEE-5, ESEE-6, ESEE Junglas
I doubt any of those would have a problem with being smacked repeatedly with a baton. For that matter I'd happily baton with my Lite Machete as well (it'd teach the bugger for biting me today when I was cleaning the blade, my thumb is still tingling).

it comes with a convex grind already. it's perfect for de-limbing branches. heck, it out-chops the junglas hands down and i'd carry it over the junglas if i had another way to split wood (i'm not an axe guy). this is as close as i can get to an in-hand pic at the moment.

side note: i sold the rc-5 and rc-3 a long time ago.

edit: versatile enough to rival the esee-4 in making feather sticks too.

Please forgive my Noobness in asking but how did you get black handles on all of these ESEE products? Did you color them yourself?

I just use the Condor leather sheath that I bought with my Lite Machete because I'd heard that the one that came with the Lite wasn't very good. Since the Lite Machete was available without a sheath I bought it like that + Condor sheath.

Do you happen to have a link? .. there are many different kind of condor sheath and want to be sure it will fit the ESEE

took a couple of quick pics in the hand for you. the biggest plus is the micarta handle makes it so much easier on the hand.

It's the El Salvador sheath on knifecenter or the 18" El Salvador sheath on machete specialists site.

Anyone that sells Condor machetes would be likely to have it - if it is for the 18" El Salvador machete then it will be fine for the ESEE Lite Machete.

I was in El Salvador in front of a pizza hut, and picked up one of those armored grasshoppers. Picked it up like it was a North American grasshopper, so I did. Right behind the thorax by pinching the wings, between its big legs. It was then I noticed "Wow Mr. Grasshopper, what big thorns you have over your large jumping legs". Right after that he took the legs, and pressed both of them into my index finger, drawing blood. That friggin grasshopper did a defense mechanism I never even new existed. If a bug can flip a person off, I reckon that grasshopper gave me the bird.

I love the lite machete and would concider carrying it if the sheat that came with it wasnt destroyed :) of course i did not beg for a replacement but I need to find a new way ( a different type ) to carry it.. maybe something that can hold pouchs and survival tin

FUNNY YOU MENTION THAT !!!!!

Jeff let me know if I am spamming:

I guess it took a little while to finally convince myself that I didn’t need 7 machete sheaths of the same size and proportion, so I’m selling five of these local machete sheaths from El Salvador. These are hand made, by people who do this 24-7. They have a reputation to keep up locally so they are quality and will last a long time. These weren’t purchased at an offhand gift shop. I went and visited these craftsman to watch and learn how they made these every step of the way. These sheaths are as TOUGHas the seasoned hands who made them, and have a reddish brown burgundycolor. They are in new condition
These 18” machete sheaths will fit: ESEE machete, Any Condor 18” latin style machete, the marbles 18”, Ontario machetes (with about a half inch of steel protruding from the top, and some Tramontinas. If you have a question regarding fit, PM ME, and I can make a measurement. Paypal, money order, and personal check accepted (short wait for check to clear)
I only have 5 of ‘em
$22 shipped anywhere in the US
And one special
The 22” special machete sheath is $26 shipped anywhere in the US

I've got a nickel-plated guarizama pattern machete that has one of the sheaths from these guys--top notch stuff! The leather is some super tough stuff!:thumbup:

I finally pulled the trigger this evening on a ESEE Lite Machete. I was snooping around T-K-C and noticed Dale only had one left in stock. I guess that's what I needed. A little fear to jump start my decision. I gotta tell you, I'm really looking forward to scouting for deer and elk this spring. Clearing for stands and paths was always such a pain in the ass.

When i go backpacking i always take my lite machete. I have cut down man trees with that thing and it holds it edge very well. But when i do need to touch it up i just use the lansky quick fix pocket sharpener. It makes the blade cut hair after a little bit of time with it. Works well for me and the sharpener is small and very easy to carry.

I'm really excited about this thing showing up. This weekend, building that shelter with my son and fighting those blackberry bushes all day, yeah, the ESEE Lite would have come in handy.
