ESEE pictures and chat 👍🏻

Im about 12 or 13 years late to the party but today I bought a second hand Laser Strike. I have avoided it because I've always thought it was ugly as a bag of spanners. After actually handling it im very impressed. Im going to take it on a four day goat hunt next week and put it to work.

I am going to order an Esee 6. G10 or canvas micarta? My Esee 4 has micarta. I haven't handled the G10.
The canvas micarta offered on the Esee 6 is very different than the tan micarta offered on the 5, 4, 3, and Izula.

On the 6, canvas micarta it is only offered as brown 3D sculpted micarta and I find the texture quite plasticy without the canvas grip of the other models' canvas micarta.

If you want the same canvas texture of the other models on on the 6, you can buy Esse 5 canvas scales separately. I haven't done it, but they are supposed to fit.

Hit the 6 with some sand paper. Loosen those fibers in the resin..😉

About a year ago, I picked up an ESEE-3. It's a great knife, but I'm not a big fan of the coated blades, so a few days ago, I stripped the coating off, and did the "forced patina" thing, with a vinegar soaked paper towel. It left some strange patterns on the blade, but I suspect it will even out over time.

Some people might think I'm crazy, but that's OK. 🤣

T Triple_D I like that leather back on your sheath, did you make it?

Yep. Just a flat piece of leather (7/8 oz, I think), that I cut out, and punched some holes in. Here it is before I dyed it, and added the keeper strap.

I also tried my hand at making a leather sheath for it. This one is functional, but ugly. I made a couple more which turned out a little better, but there is definitely a learning curve to leather craft.
