I posted this pic several days ago when it was brand new, and this ESEE 5 looks more used now...but not much. This is my first one, and dang if they are hell for stout.
Love the handle scales on your five. Who made them and thanks for sharing. 👍

Thanks, but they are stock right out of the box. I dunno why they don't have the fire bow hole, but I really liked the way they look, and I don't really have any green coated blades. This was the last one on display at SMKW, and I'm so glad it came home with me.

I used it today to help tend with the burn out from the downed oak limbs I have been trying find the time to get rid of for the last several weeks :)

Time put put my dressed up 6 with the new ' sonofwilfred sonofwilfred pouch' to work a bit.
Went for a nice long walk with Grim this afternoon.
Sunny and warm but sorta heavy winds. Brought gear to setup al small camp, make lunch and chill a bit.

After my tarp and hammock were setup for shade and blocking the wind I boiled water for coffee.
Decided to use my alcohol stove as we haven't seen rain in weeks and forest fires are on the news almost daily where I live. Don't' think a wood fire would be the safest thing right now.

Time to beak up camp and go home again. :)
Grim; You still Goooooou Booooooooooy...

We had a day off and spent the morning finding gold. 1 and 2 dollar gold coins. My young fella ended up with $25 a small garden fork a broken lock and a Sterling silver cross. I was digging with the candiru but the garden fork was found very early and we used it instead.

The 5 is one of those knives I can't explain why I like it so much. It's overbuilt and kinda heavy. It's thick at the edge. I have at least half a dozen knives that fall into similar designed use, but since I got it, I havent made it the backyard for a weekend of work without bringing it along.

It must be the combo of the grip, blade shape, and balance. I love that knife.

I am looking to get an Esee 4P with 3D grip scales. There are two models I like the looks of. One model has G10 grip scales. The other has natural micarta. Which grip material do you prefer and why?

I personally prefer the G10 because it's easier to clean blood off of. I dont have a problem with the natural micarta, I just prefer G10.

I prefer the micarta, specifically Esee's canvas micarta which is kinda rough.

Check out the 4PB-017, it has rough grey/light green 3d canvas micarta. I love those scales and wish I could order them by themselves.

The only other 3d micarta E4 has the dark brown scales which look like the canvas micarta scales that are on my 3d E6, and those are not rough, and are rather hard and smooth and I do not prefer them.
