Exotac nanoSTRIKER XL

I received mine very quickly after the order was placed. Although I have not started a fire with it, I have tried it out to see how well it sparks. Very nice! The fit and finish is top quality too!
Thanks Mist

Cool, glad you like it. I think they are awesome tools that make keeping a ferro rod handy easy to do. I have had one on me since I found out about them 2 years ago. I've yet to see an Exotac product that didn't have great fit and finish.

now i have something else to add to my bat utility belt, er, ESG.

I've been carrying a Ti nano for nearly two years now and put it through a lot. It goes everywhere I go.

But I really do like the larger rod and larger striker of the XL. It has found a home in one of my neck knife kits.

We're an authorized Exotac dealer: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1026324-Exotac-match-cases-and-fire-starters

We offer free shipping on everything Exotac.

I should also add that I use a polySTRIKER I bought at retail to start the fire in my fireplace. :-) Makes for good practice.

I just checked out your site, and you have really good prices on their stuff too. I'll have to remember that.

I have been using Exotac products since they first started making the nanoSTRIKER, and I really like their gear. All of their stuff is very well made. I like the nanoXL better than the regular nano, but I still edc a Ti nano I've had for three years.

I like the sealed nanos better for the corrosion resistance, but I bought one of the Polystriker XLs when they first came out to try out. I've since bought a few of the smaller ones for small kits I've put together for other people. Both of them throuw some really nice sparks and I like how the striker snaps into the handle.

I've also used nanoXLs and matchcaps in kits

Be aware that Exotac just upgraded their Nanostriker striker from 440C Stainless steel to Tungsten Carbide. The new striker is available as a seperate item. The way to tell the strikers apart: a magnet sticks to the 440C but not the WC (Tungsten Carbide).

Mistwalker,

Always enjoy your reviews. Just ordered the nanoSTRIKER XL. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the reviews, and I hope you like the NXL as much as I like them. The striker does take a little bit to get used to, but three years later it's still my favorite edc fire starter.

The carbide strikers are available separately as replacements yes, but as far as I know all of the strikers are carbide now and have been for some time, nearly a year I think.

All of my Nanostrikers were older than that, so I replaced them all.

Hi Guys,
I really appreciate the business. RW, your order is boxed and going out today. USPS has been insanely quick on some stuff lately, so you should have your Striker soon.

I don't think I saw it mentioned anywhere in this thread, but pocket lint (from the dryer) is the best fire starting material around to use with a ferrocerium rod. The only thing that works better is char cloth.

I don't blame you there, the carbide strikers are definitely better, they stay sharp longer.

Oh, I don't know. It doesn't get much better or easier to ignite that PJCBs.

Can't disagree with the cotton balls. I just find it easier to pack lint.

I have two neck knives set up as emergency fire starting systems. One is a BK&T BK-11CSM with an Exotac fire rod packed full of PJCBs, and the other is a TOPS Tibo with a nanoXL and a small capsule of PJCBs

I love the FireRODs. They are really nice. Nice and beefy too.

curious
how far does this free shipping go ? conus ? world wide ?
:)

I had to change the shipping to anything over $25 ships free. Too many small orders coming in that we were just plain losing money on. The free shipping covers the whole US, but only the US. International shipping is expensive. We never mark up shipping though. Most companies that do a lot of international business end up with warehouses in or near those countries. I just sent something off to Australia a few days ago. I think it was about $8 for a 13oz package to go out first class.
