Forum Knife Updates and comments

Is that the most ever ordered for a forum knife?

All that, and they were under $100!

2017 Blade Forums 153117 Natural Canvas Micarta 519 pcs.

This Buck is an awesome deal. Happy to have one coming!!!
Many thanks to Skblades!

Geez, forgot there were that many out there on that one. Thanks for that info!

Absolutely right!
Another thing, I think the 17 run was unrestricted, some people buying multiples. So this year's figure is actually very impressive given there were limitations (rightly..) on the numbers an individual can buy-2 max.
Whatever, biggest all stainless run :D Biggest non GEC run  Biggest Antler run too :D:cool:

Agreed Will this was a great success. In all honesty I learned a good lesson in contempt prior to investigation. When I first heard it would be Buck and not GEC Makeing the Forum knife I was shocked and I'll admit a bit disappointed. However like so often happens in life not getting my way turned out to be a great teachable moment. Obviously I don't even have this year's knife in hand but because of this whole experience I've found a new interest in Buck Knives. In large part due to the amazing job done by SK Blades.:cool:

I ordered late and the slip was still an option so did everyone who ordered a slip get one iirc only ~170 slips were available did that number change or just not that many want a slip?

The total number of knives ordered was.......474!!!!!!!
I believe the 2017 micarta 15 had a limit of two per buyer, as well.

It did, and a 500 unit max, first come first served and sold out in 2 days I think. Only the limit was pretty softly enforced with an open link and 2 per address that was all but on the honor system if I remember correctly.

That was a flippers dream last year. A knife that was a mortal lock to bring near $200 (or more) on resale for about $100. No limit would have probably seen 1500 or more (or a bunch more) ordered but it would have put a serious dent in the resale. Maybe even made it a losing proposition?
This year's knife not so much a sure thing on resale value I think, but the tightly controlled limit and qualification probably probably locked in some flipping value by keeping the production low and sales mainly to those buying for the right reasons.

Personally I'd prefer the number to be limited to about half of what we've ordered and one per. I really don't consider a run of 500 to be "limited".

Still, I'm very happy that we have a forum knife, that Buck has joined the list of makers, and that we had a team step up to make this happen.

I wish we could get Tony Bose, or someone with connections to Case, to allow us to have a Forum version of their 2019 collab for next years knife. That would be pretty special, and with a run of 500 I'd bet it could be brought in for around the same price as some of their other ones. Heck with the Backpocket model selling for $50-$60 now that it's "old" I'd bet we could get close to the $100 mark. And if they didn't want to do a "new" pattern, I'd bet a 500 piece run of Zulu Spear's should be doable for that money. And that would be a very cool Forum knife.
