Go Large--The BF Big Folder Thread

Cold Steel Large Luzon
I reckon a 6" blade qualifies. It completely fits in the front pocket of my jeans. Only the clip shows. It's great for shocking friends when you pull the knife out of your pocket and open it. It's really too large for any other purpose.

Love the old Al Mar knives. Wish I bought a bunch of Eagles before they started making junk.
I've never handled any of the new, so-called "Al Mars" made since the company was sold out, and have no desire to do so. I bought that Cocobolo Talon Eagle new from a dealer, but the rest of my current 5 AM's came off the secondary market--a couple from BF and a couple off the big auction site. Most of what's on the latter is over-priced, but if you're patient and selective you can find a decent knife for a fair price. There's a Facebook vintage Al Mar group that you can Google and join that has some interesting discussion but also a buy/sell section. The rarer knives are appropriately expensed but there are often decent prices on more run-of-the-mill production models.

As I don't think I've posted this one on this thread before...

No pic.
Sorry.
Couldn't see what I'm tallking about anyway ; and that is I finally couldn't take it any more :
My wonderful Spyderco Police G10 K390 from a number of years ago has had liners with exposed edges at the slot where the blade folds into that could practically slice ones fingers.
I have been putting off "deburing "/ champhering them until I found the perfect tool to do it with . I have sheet metal deburing tools (pencil like rod with swivel hook thing on the end ) but felt , for this fine knife, I could do better .

I had bought a few nice Nicholson point files (for old car ignition points) and finally grabbed one of those and went to town.
Up until then I was concerned about chatter lines from the file teeth minutely moving up and down.

I have a ceramic deburing tool in my cart ; looks sort of flat like a break off utility knife but it was twenty bucks and I wasn't convinced it was worth a damb anyway , ceramic might just chip on such a knife like edge on the knife liners.

Any body else take these sharp edges off ? What did you use ?
boy I shouldn't have said that; my post is probably half way to the tinkering forum as I type this . . .

Anyway I love this knife; tool steel , thin blade and textured handle but not FRN .
Right before I bought it I had a nice , involved discussion on this forum with Sal about K390 (this was one of the very first knives to get it) and this knife always reminds me of that time. He was considering putting K390 on the Pattada but decided on the Police . I suppose the Pattada is a fisherman's knife and so K390 would have put the Pattada off limits for water work . Not sure anybody uses it for that in this country .
Any body ?

Anyway I'll use my Police a lot more now that it feels comfortable to hold onto.
