Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians, glad to see everyone recovering. I still haven't got to the bottom of what is wrong with my wifi, but at least my phone signal is better today, for now at least. My online meeting last night got postponed, and it's just as well, because I think I'd have been cut off. It's raining here today, so I'm in no hurry to get to the market, but I'll head down there in a bit. I have a medical appointment (tennis elbow) on the other side of Leeds this afternoon - there are 2 hospitals and half a dozen health centres within walking distance, but they managed to find somewhere miles away πŸ™„ Have a good day Guardians πŸ‘

Great to hear you're doing well buddy πŸ™‚ Happy Double Lambsfoot Day πŸ‘

Looking good Steve πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Great to have you back Jack, glad you're OK πŸ˜πŸ‘

Very nice Adam πŸ™‚πŸ‘

Tomato juice by any chance Mitch? Or are you on the Bloody Mary's? πŸ˜„πŸ‘

Great pic Dwight 😎 I nearly bought a bottle of Talisker yesterday, but reckoned I was already approaching my carrying limit! 😁 I was drinking a peat smoked Glenturret last night, which has quite impressed me πŸ‘

Partay! πŸ˜‚ Looks good mate πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

That is terrible Dan, but I'm glad you were able to save your cabin, and, most importantly, that you're OK πŸ‘
Yep tomato with other vegetables in it.
Vodka just requires sparkling water πŸ˜‰

Just got back from my lake. It is Nemeiben Lake in northern Saskatchewan. in the space of less than a week a forest fire has burned 100% of the shoreline
View attachment 2892640

I saved my cabin by removing all of the combustible lumber and kayaks, canoe etc out from underneath and spraying down the bush surrounding the area with a fire hose for 2 days. The cabin survived but I almost wish it hadn't because of the decimation of the surroundings. I don't know how the cabin survived, the heat cracked most of the windows and scorched the siding in places. Amazing all of the stuff in the shipping containers was all ok as well, including 8 5 gal cans of gas.

I'm glad that you and your cabin are okay πŸ‘

Thanks mate !

Great picture buddy, I'm looking forward to the market report πŸ‘

It looks like another damp day here but not too hot.
I sure hope I'll be able to mow my back yard today!🫰
Fingers crossed for hope or because I'm lying.

It was wet and dull on the market, and I had to wait until nearly 10 to get a coffee. The days when Greedy Graham was serving bacon sandwiches at 5am are long gone unfortunately. Even Tool Man has had to temper his scoffing. It was quiet on the Tool Stall, with Gravel being our only visitor, until Ex Para Steve wandered over from Nobber Al's record stall to show us this table kenife display he had found. Unfortunately, he is going to have to open it up to replace the fallen piece.

Golden Gordon wondered by with a huge, heavy satchel, which turned out to be full of coins he had brought down for a collector who hadn't turned up. When I felt the weight of it, I was amazed he could lift it!

I decided to get a chip butty before crossing town for my medical appointment, and took a photo for Scout πŸ˜‰

I haven't been to Armley, the area where the medical centre is, for a dozen years. Tool Man used to live here then, and believe it or not, it's actually got rougher since he left! Not that it's ever been salubrious - there's a large old prison on the hill, and I'm currently seeking sanctuary in the old public library at the top of Stocks Hill! I dare say there's a Gibbet Lane somewhere about πŸ™„

It's not the sort of place you start waving a camera about, but I quickly snapped this stone, set in the pavement, with my phone. I thought it might be of interest to the Wild Colonial Guardians πŸ˜‰

While Armley Town Street is still mostly lined with independent shops, there aren't many I'd want to go in. There are betting shops, pawnbrokers, shisha pipe shops, a Β£1 shop, several Turkish barbers, a lot of cut-price booze shops, vape shops, some rough-looking pubs, dozens of takeaway food shops, and bookending them, half a mile apart, is the 123 year old library at one end, and a very traditional butchers at the other.

Thanks for the Market Report Jack. Armley seems nice. I love sausage and they do have a champion there. I wish we had wonderful old buildings and brick roads like you do. Here in Santa Cruz we have lots of tattoo parlors, nail salons and pot shops though. And you can’t buy a chip butty around these parts. Good Thursday to all.

I am alive thanks gentlemen, pretty sore and swollen for a few days but on the mend now.

My wife (the comedian) gave me some thoughtful gifts afterwards.

That is hilarious, Jack!

I'm really sorry to hear that Dan. But I'm glad you managed to save the cabin. What a tragedy mate but nature will restore eventually. What was your water source?
I had a 2" pump on the dock, pumping water from the lake.

I'm sorry to hear mate, glad that the cabin made it through.

Everything will return, nature is resilient despite our best efforts to tame her.
Thanks Jack. Nature will restore itself, forest fires are a very necessary part of the ecosystem. In this case, it will not be fully restored in my lifetime. This area had burned in 2015, when we lost the original cabin.

Thanks Jack. Yeah, I probably stayed too long. The fire was about 20 yds from me and very hot by the time I got the boat away from the dock.

Good pic, Jack. We really need to be able to use two emojis for some of your posts: sad for you internet and medical bureaucracy woes and love for the beautiful knives you post.

Glad you're OK πŸ‘
Twenty yards sounds really close 😲
You are correct: nature will reclaim itself. I reclaimed abandoned coal mines and I once told somebody we were just giving mother nature a jump start by a couple of hundred years bulldozerevensmaller.png

It was very close, luckily it was just burning in small thin scrub, so the flames were only a couple of feet high.

I'm sorry so little happens there these days Kurt. Gravel was bemoaning his increasingly alcoholic girlfriend, his growing depression, and his now dangerously aggressive dog, but he got short shrift from Tool Man who simply wanted to know why he hadn't yet gone to buy the onion and mushroom bhajis Tool Man demands. Gravel duly went on said mission, but Tool Man then complained that he hadn't brought back a sufficient quantity of the yoghurt sauce he can consume by the bucket. Pausing halfway through shovelling 2 containers down his throat, he paused to briefly say, "I don't really like foreign food..." πŸ˜–

Perhaps you need to set up a chip butty stand my friend! 😁 Apart from the sausage makers, library, and prison, the other mainstay of Armley is Mike's Carpets, best known for their cheesy TV adverts from the 70's and 80's 😁

Medical centre?
LOL! 🀣 Back in the day, a lot of folks certainly went to the hospital from there! 😱 And even further back, they went from there to the undertakers, including one of Sheffield's most famous scoundrels, Charlie Peace ☠️
