I have a couple of extra days off this week, so I holidayishly made coffee with my Revere Ware percolator. Pretty good. I think Mom would have kept it warm on an asbestos pad (which I still have; it hasn't killed any of us yet) on the lowest burner. I'm using the Joy of Cooking's bain Marie ploy.
[Of course the JoC's bain Marie ploy would work on the Melitta carafe also.
So I don't need the narrow-throated filter cone that would fit on my Stanley Thermos. Which would make for a pretty tippy arrangement anyway, and I wouldn't be able to tell how much coffee I was making without frequent peeking, which could only make things tippier.]
