I was just about to leave for the market on Thursday, when a UPS van pulled up outside my house, and delivered a parcel of fabulous gifts from Jeremy sbh06 I am lucky enough to already have a number of examples of Jeremy's impeccable leather work, and was thrilled to receive some more Wow, they're amazing! As well as the superbly-crafted leather valet tray, and the stunning Lambsfoot slip, Jeremy very generously included some top-notch Virginia peanuts, and Chimes Ginger Chews, which I'm sure I will love There was also a great little O-Light flashlight, perfect for my key-chain, and a smart Smithfield decal/sticker (I was fascinated to learn the history of Isle of Wight county) Many thanks for the hand-written postcard too Jeremy, you're a great pal, a talented maker, and I am very grateful for your friendship and kindness

Good morning Guardians, I hope that everyone is well, and that you're all having a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Apologies again for my absence, but I really have been crazy-busy with an unusual work situation this past week or so, to the extent that I was having to get by on 3-4 hours sleep a night. I'll not bore you with the details, but hopefully, it's all done and dusted for now - in fact for all time! Thanks for keeping the Guardians thread at the top of the front page, and I'm looking forward to catching up My pal Matt asked if I wanted to go to a local beer and music festival today, as we usually attend, but I told him I need a rest! I was looking online, to see where I could buy more of the delicious ginger chews Jeremy sent to me, and came across advice that you should only consume 2-4 a day. I'm glad I read that, because they're very moreish!

Do they tell you what happens if you eat 4-8 a day? Maybe it's just a silly superstition.

I was looking online, to see where I could buy more of the delicious ginger chews Jeremy sent to me, and came across advice that you should only consume 2-4 a day. I'm glad I read that, because they're very moreish!

Anything to do with ginger and you have won me. 2-4 an hour sounds more appropriate. .

I’ve been absent for some time. Just got caught up on the thread. Hope everyone’s been well.

Spent the week camping with my family. Weather wasn't too bad, around 80-90F and cool and overcast for the 4th. Great tent camping weather.





Hit a road blockage on the way home and had to take our minivan on a huge detour through a somewhat perilous mountain pass, hardly more than a single lane in some places with easily hundred foot dropoff to the side. Luckily, the van handled it well even being fully loaded down (with a bit of leveraging our momentum in a few places)! No scrapes or flat tires and didn’t get stuck at all in spite of the terrain.




Glad to be back in my own bed!

You might be right Jer! I think the warning is that too much ginger can cause stomach upsets, not something I've ever found before

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm still feeling worn out, and was hoping for another day's lollygagging, but I have agreed to meet up with an old lady who lives nearby. She is an amputee, struggles to get out of her home, and doesn't see many people, so I have arranged to meet her at the local community centre for a coffee. I'm sure she'll know some other people there too. Unfortunately, the coffee is pretty awful, but I can hopefully get a cup at Charlie's in the afternoon, before I go into town. I don't know if anyone remembers my story about helping the old nun the other week? Well, I bumped into her on the bus again the other day, and managed to prevent her getting off at the wrong stop again! When we came to the right one, I offered to take her to the church again. She was confident about getting there herself, (it's just a few yards), but asked if I would help her off the bus. I stepped off first in order to take her hand, while she stepped down, and the bus driver promptly closed the doors and drove off! Fortunately, there was another bus waiting, and I got on, even though I was only going to the next stop Have a good day Guardians, I'm having another one with L'Ariete
