Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians, I hope you're all well, and enjoying the weekend :) I'm having internet problems this morning, just as well I don't have any work on  Bod is staying at a nearby hotel, but I'm hoping he fancies a late morning coffee. Unfortunately, he's decided he doesn't need to change phones or SIM cards, and there's a substantial lag with his Polish one 😖 Almost as bad as with my internet! 😵‍💫 Have a good day Guardians

Maybe he's afraid a new phone wouldn't work back in Poland.

I've offered to give him an extra phone. For £11, he could get a sim card, which he could then make and receive calls and texts on from his friends and family here, on several networks, for the next 6 months. It'd be worth it just for the week he's here. At the moment, all his calls are charged internationally 🫣

I was going to give Bod a Lambsfoot for his son Jack, but it turns out I already gave him one a couple of years ago! 😖 Bod says he takes it everywhere, he even showed me some photos of him holding it. Jack is going to be a big lad, he's nearly 6ft already, and he's only 11! 😱

Afternoon Guardians! Trust y'all are having a good day.
Saturday lunch beer at home poured from a growler filled with one of my favorite local IPAs. Paul Rodgers dually 🐑 with wonderful patina and the pretty synthetic bone. Snaps like a 🐊 Thanks again Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 . Now back to lollygagging. EDIT: Forgot add this photo!IMG_7495.jpeg

I hope your internet settles down. N ice pic of your Rosecraft 👍

Sweet Steve, Butler produced some top class knives 😎👍

Thanks buddy !

Afternoon Guardians! Trust y'all are having a good day. The rodeo is tonight but I probably won't go cause of the heat. I haven't been handling the heat very well lately. Back to lolligaggin. Happy trails 🤠

Stay cool buddy 👍

Bob I was thinking of your cute tiny frogs. Then I remembered this movie. Beware the Frog Apocalypse my friend. Just a heads up.

Nice Cosimo 🐑 👍

...
Many thanks Gary :)

I can relate my friend, I recall growing up with holes in my shoes, and not enough to eat, while my sister imagines a middle-class upbringing, where she got whatever she wanted  :D

I think that would have been too tempting for me Gary! :D Makes me think of Harvey's cakes :) When entering many of the large supermarkets here, you're greeted by the smell of freshly-baked bread and cookies, but the aromas emanate from a 'cassette' they plug in each day

🤣 🤣
...
That's quite a "memory gap" between you and your sister regarding your childhoods, Jack! o_O
I'm surprised that using fake aromas to entice customers in supermarkets is even legal! What's next, hostesses accompanying each male shopper and using her charms to entice him to fill his cart?? 🤓

...
Thanks, GT. Wow, 50 to 60 miles a week is a lot of walking! So far I’ve been keeping these trail walks pretty short, but I may do a few longer ones as I get more “warmed up.” When Eleanor and I did this trail a few years back, we ended up accidentally doing one 10+ mile walk at the far end of the trail; when we got to where the trail was supposed to end, it just kept going!

It really depends. On the eastern-end of the trail, where I’ve been walking so far, it’s not too tough to find parking. I don’t know that there are any parking spots specifically meant for the trail, there are plenty of business parking lots, municipal lots and residential streets where you can park right alongside the trail. Today I parked outside of a post office/town hall, and didn’t realize until I got back to the truck that I wasn’t supposed to be parked there, but no one seemed to have noticed.

The further west the trail goes, the more rural it becomes, and there are fewer parking options. I remember having to get a bit creative last time we did this, especially if you’re trying to cover a certain section of the trail.

My wife walks around our neighborhood pretty regularly, but it’s not my favorite. A lot of the smaller streets lack sidewalks, and there are a lot of hills. (We’re also at about the highest point on the island, which means no matter where you walk around the neighborhood, the last little bit to get home is going to be a trudge uphill.)

I definitely prefer a shady walk on a sunny day!

I checked off miles 4 through 6 on the trail today, most of which goes through the village of Minnetonka Beach, a small (and expensive) community located on a narrow strip of land that separates two parts of Lake Minnetonka.
...
It was sunny and warmer than it has been lately, so I was appreciative that most of the trail here was shady. There was also a pretty decent breeze, which was pleasant.

Lots of very nice, very pricey homes along this part of the trail, many of which are right on the lake. I stopped to take a picture of this one, which was probably the most extreme example I saw. 😳

My Lambsfoot for the day was my Cosimo Lunar Lamb, which I still had in my pocket from the weekend.

Thanks for taking us on another of your walks, Barrett! It was fun and informative, although it didn't seem to register on my pedometer.:thumbsup:🤓
50 miles per week is my goal, but in reality, since I stopped teaching and walking a 6-mile round trip commute at least 5 days per week, I rarely meet attain goal any more. This week was only the second week this summer that I passed 50 miles; usually I'm in the 35-45 miles per week range.
Thanks for the details about parking to access various segments of the trail. I can see why you're looking for alternatives to walking in your neighborhood. I avoid streets without sidewalks whenever possible (although one busy street that's part of a frequent walk for me has no sidewalk, but I feel safe walking in the clearly-marked bike lane facing oncoming bikes and stepping into the weeds when cyclists approach). And although I don't hate hills, I'll often choose routes to avoid them, especially when walking our old, short-legged dog.
I like the house photo you included. When my daughter was young, we'd often look for "castle houses" that had a cylindrical tower with conical roof. On my walks since COVID appeared, I discovered a new such house that I planned to show her on one of her visits, but I forgot and it got torn down last spring, even though it didn't seem to be very old.
I'd walk a million miles for a lambsfoot with jigging like your lunar lamb! 😲:thumbsup:

Call it,
Smooth Bob!
Mitch, I like how you name your knives according to the people they come from!
Based on the reverse side you have shown, Id go with something like “Luna”. It has a very strong moon-like appearance 🌕
Good observation!;) I'd never made the connection between the 2 shades of white on the knife handle and the gradients of white on the surface of the full moon, but as soon as you mentioned it, I saw it right away!
Bianca is the feminine version of "White" in Italian, GT!!! Looks like a woman/female knife to me!!! 😁
Thanks for your input, Charlie! I don't know how you can tell the gender of a knife; I refer to almost all of mine as males. But including Italian words in the knife's name is a great idea, considering where the knife came from.:cool:
Looking good Gary :)
Thanks, Jack. :)
...
Gary I like “Smooth Bob”. May I add “White Shadow”. Both mysterious names. 🤔
Thanks for your suggestions, Kurt. :)
Almost as soon as I'd posted some names I was considering, I asked my wife if "White Shadow" meant anything to her. She mentioned a TV show from the 1970s, I think, about a white former pro basketball player who took a job coaching mostly minority students at an inner city school. I remembered that show and liked it a lot. I also remembered when I was a preschool kid watching The Mickey Mouse Club on TV, one of the "serials" they had as part of the show was "Corky and White Shadow". Corky was a young "cowgirl" whose father was the town sheriff (played by Buddy Ebsen), and White Shadow was her white German Shepard. I liked that story too (another one of those "serials" on MM Clus was "Spin and Marty").
Morning Guardians! 5K Qs 5K Qs I liked Charlie's suggestion of "Bianca", but that might just be because it sounds as pretty as that knife looks.

My friend today is from Canada. Have a good one everybody!

Thanks for chiming in to support the Italian naming idea!:)
That Rhidian lamb is riveting!!:cool::thumbsup:

Thank you! It's funny you ask that GT. I asked my brother if he remembered that day and his recollection was a little different from mine. He remembers eating at a restaurant while we waited for our dad, and the fact that there were no hotels available because of the festival. I just remember waiting on a bench, wondering how my dad was going to make it back.

Good report Jack. :) It just occurred to me, and I apologize if I missed it, but with all those creative names for regulars at the market I can't help but wonder what name they have for you.

Here's my generic manhole cover pic for GT 5K Qs 5K Qs .

Thanks for sharing your brother's memory of the biking event, Pat.:)
And thanks for the "lamb on manhole cover" photo!:thumbsup:🤓
I really like the patina that many manhole covers take on, so if I'm going out to take photos of knives with manhole covers or sewer grates or access hatches to water or gas valves, I try to remember to take a big old worn-out paint brush I can use to clean off dirt and leaves.

Morning Guardians! Thanks for the market report Jack 👍 I really like the Rosewood on this HHB. Happy trails 🤠

Those rosewood HHBs are fantastic, David!:cool::thumbsup:

Tool Man comes up with most of the names, a few others I've come up with, and others are pre-existing. I only call Tool Man that to others. His longstanding nickname is 'Sonn', from his surname 'Wilkinson'. I either call him that, or 'Fatty'! :D He usually calls me 'Barn', an old nickname I had at school, Jack, or 'Jack Black'!
Did you and Tool Man know each other back in school, Jack?? o_O:eek:

By the way, I went to the hospital but I didn't have my eardrum perforated and steroids shot behind it. Since my hearing popped back by itself to about where it had been a week ago, there's no point. That's all the steroid shot will do for you; it won't heal your autoimmune disease forever.

Anyway, with my Zen Yoga Christian Science Tai Chi chops, I should be able to heal my autoimmune disease forever with Jedi mind tricks. Note to self.

With all these medical appointments, I thought I'd go ahead and get next year's calendars. My shirt-pocket sized At-A-Glance is $35, so I'm getting something similar from Mojoostry for $6.50.
And back to lighthouses for the kitchen door calendar.
Sounds like you've got everything under control, Jer! ;)
I used to always use something called a DayTimer calendar "system", where the spiral-bound calendars were a set of 12, one for each month with a page for each day, that I carried in a "distressed leather" cover; had to change the calendar booklet every month. It was a nice system, but became very expensive, and I eventually switched to Month At-A-Glance for my last few years of visiting student teachers in all different schools. Now I just use the calendar on my MacBook, and I'm quite happy with it.

Notable pair, Tyson! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Breathtaking, Steve!😲

That’s okay it's already Friday here, just about 2pm.
Nice picture.
Very nice GT
Thanks, Mitch and Jack. :)
