No, RenWax offers no abrasion protection and will just muck up the engraving....it's mainly for protection against moisture.Rennaisance wax or not? That is the question. Will a thin coat add some years to the protection of the gold? Thanks.
I guess I'm not sure what it is. I think your best scratch protection is going to be to keep it in something with a soft liner like moleskin or microfiber or along those lines and not in your back denim pocket. You could put a clear sticker over it maybe? If you ever find the black stuff in the background needs reapplication for any reason, it's rustoleum semigloss enamel paint, you can get it at any hardware store, btw.Ren wax or not - that is the question. I thought this looked familiar! I just purchased it at a knife show today. Well done!It is with great anxiety that I begin offering commissions to knife makers. I would like to limit to knife makers at the moment, but I will consider projects that "speak to me".
I will preface that I have been engraving for a year. I took my first beginner class from Ray Cover in March '21.
I do scrolls in bold american in my own subtle style with my own particular flavor leaves in the mix. People portraits are not my favorite thing to do but I would engrave any animal from sharks to horses to dragons. 24k gold inlay. Pave diamond setting.
I've been working hard at improving and I think I'm ready to take on a few more projects.
Hit me up and let's talk about your next project!
