Just not sure what to do. All the options are there to make it whstever a guy could want, but at the same time the thing I always liked about the regular Basic 8 was how light it felt while still being choppy. But then again the extra thickness should make it better for batoning.....but then again I've never had a blade this thick and don't know if the extra heft make it a feel clumsy for use other than chopping and wood prep.........Dammit......I need a drink.
Yes...Jerry does listen between drinks....and he checks the Post Count once a year...so today's post count 10,782 HOG B8 postsI'll tell you what Boss, you certainly give your people what they want. Awesome!
I am completely on the ropes...The Basic models were intended to be the true Busse users, which is what I want. Man, .350" on an 8" blade is definitely pushing pry bar classification. But who know's....The guys that wanted this know blades. Whether or not they wanted a collector or a true practical user (not the person that goes out of their way to find a tree to chop down) is the question
To think, for a little while I though infi was in short supply![]()
I had an FBM le at a little over .3" thick, this was balanced and very functional to me with a 10" blade and considered chopper. This monster just worked and made sense (the choil was very functional on this size of a blade and worked very well when choked up, for smaller tasksW all the options lately I've found it very hard to turn stuff down that I otherwise might. But I think it will be hard to go wrong w any of the 3 options in satin. The B8LE is my second favorite all round user right behind the tglb. And it's quite a bit slicier being thinner and satin and FFG. Not to mention a few oz lighter.
ETA: B8LE is full convex zero edge

This monster just worked and made sense (the choil was very functional on this size of a blade and worked very well when choked up, for smaller tasks)......Now with the HOGB8 we have a another .05" but on an 8" blade and a lighter handle. I'm guessing this to be very blade heavy with the standard grind at least. 8" blades I consider a do all camp knife. I hope this girth doesn't push it to far away from the smaller tasks, to just a dedicated short chopper (I like a little more reach and leverage with a chopper). This is also more of a creation of certain hogs dreams/fantasies, which can not be pratical in reality at times (hopefully not this time). I wish we could skip into the future and get some reviews, but whats the fun in that. You are correct this is full flat ground and should hopefully balance that extra width, which is great!
I am on board for an le...nothing to lose, just a big blade to gain...the gravitational pull is strong on this one
That's what the girl at the picnic saidIf I knew it was gona be so Fat and Awsome, Id post more in the Hogb8 thread lol
I'm in for a standard and possibly a war feather ---- just can't decide
