Screw this RIT dye thing...$8 a bottle and instead of dark brown and dark green like it says I end up with dark purple and a greyish-blue. The hell? Luckily it was only canvas test patches and a small drawstring bag and not a sheath or a proper pouch. Wonder what I'm doing wrong?

On to the RIT, When i did my knifes scales i made the solution real strong, but when it was time to do the sheath i tested a piece of canvas like cloth and had the same problem it came out with a blue or purple'ish color on a few old shirts i used as rags. On the scales i checked the water every 15 miuntes or so, on the sheath after watering down i left it in for 20 minutes or so then checked it and kept repeating... i guess. then it seemed like it wouldnt get any darker on the sheath and i wanted it darker so i left it overnight.... still didnt get much darker tho... just play with the mixtures.

I dont have any folders in my collection and im thinking ill start out with some of the cheaper ones. I think its a good deal and might start the collection off pretty good for cheaper priced folders.

Is anyone elses stomache growling? Mine sounds like i got a bulldog with a chihuahua in a head lock.... ARGGG u know i didnt want to use chihuahua i wanted to use pomeranian or pickanese poodle or something in my stomache growling visual but then realized i couldnt spell any of them words and didnt feel like spell checking... just to realize i couldnt spell chihuahau or whatever right either.. lmao

Instead of the warthog and gila I'd get a Spyderco tenacious or resilience instead. I'm freaking hungry too...I can't spell any of those dog breeds either haha, never had to actually write the words down before therefore its not in my vocabulary.
I'll try and give the dye one last chance and leave the test patches in longer... If that fails, well...The money I blew on supid ass dye could have bought me some more OD green kydex...Ever since I made that sheath for you I've been on abit of an OD kick...Stuff really goes well with orange

I know the gila isnt exactly top notch but its one of the best looking ones on the list to me. dont really care for spyderco looks but plan to grab one anyways eventually but it will be more on the medium price ranged ones, also will eventualy get a ZT, a hogue, a sog and a benchmade just not sure exactly which ones yet. my list changes daily as new knives come and go and my preferances change lmao but i want a few of these just to have something from the companies as an example of their work.
Was putting off getting into folders but would like to have a few of the cheaper models to hold me over so i can see what others are talking about until i can break free from some fixed blades for a while.

You pretty much sumed up how i feel about folders right there lmao, But id like a few different folders for my collection just to broaden it out some. Anymore most the knives i get are just to collect them. Now i have enough users in enough sized ranges to last me forever but im enjoying the hobby so i want to keep collecting and some will be just because they look neat to me, and since alot of my collection other than bussekins revolves around kabar, and ontario a few folders from them might fit right in.

I also second the Spydie tenacious recommendation. That's a great starting folder. Its a bad addiction though. My regular carry is a $300 blade...

sorry man I was just razzing him, my humor comes off rather harsh in text.. I meant no harm...
with that said, I was born and raised in los angeles, grandma lived in venice less then a mile from the beach... so I'm VERY familiar with so cal and have only moved from there 6 yrs ago... and I'm not only heartbroken that my home town is falling apart but literally disgusted where its gone in the last 15yrs.. am I proud, well lets just say my 1st or second year I learned to stop mentioning where I was from to people out here...
I do miss what it WAS from time to time... and most of all miss friends and familiarity....

I grew up south of san francisco in a city called "south san francisco" I hate it there so much that i refuse to ever go back, my mom and sisters still live there, I always tell them if they wanna me to visit they can come over to my house... long story but I hate it there. I want to move out of state after the kids get older

Really cool, I've always enjoyed experimenting with foreign military surplus. Good call on swapping the straps out, this is almost an exact duplicate of what I used as a book bag in college.
I hate to be that preachy old guy, but I also hate to see people I care about get hurt... so here goes, the way you have your hawk featured in your pics is just about the least safe way to carry it on a pack. Please think about attaching it head down with the head on the lower outside of the pack, keep the pack between your body and the hawk. Someone always showed up to mountaineering class with their ice axe mounted the way your hawk is, first lesson always had a lecture on how gear intended to save your life can also kill you.

this is why I moved... I didn't want to raise my kids there, not that's bad but very hard and I couldn't afford private school..
some out here ask about hollywood like its all glam, I tell them its an armpit and not what you'd expect from movies... i used to hang in hollywood as a kid, it was a cesspool then people slamming dope in open alleys... and Beverly hills? come on, you have to go through the ghetto to get there.. people that don't know only see what hollywood shows
had an electrician I worked with for a bit out here he nicknamed me Rainbow, and I'm happy to say that names dying down, unless of course I see him from time to time but others started calling me by it...
