It was damn hot!

Real scorcher here in the NW, imagine Meister Tall is feeling the heat too.

Talking to other members here, seems like its plumb hot every where.

In the wise words of Bookie, it ain't all bad and it beats the heck out of snow.

Us northern aggressors just ain't used to this kind of heat, but we'll get through it.

Foggy and 67° F in my neighborhood but sunny and lovely earlier today .
Glad I'm not there with the rest of you.

Be well.

I feel so bad for my sister.
She flew out to visit some friends in Portland this week. Unfortunately, only 30% of people up there have A.C..

Good thing she was born and raised in the Mug Bowl that is southern Indiana. Hot and humid like N.O. but with zero breeze and we sit down in a valley where the heat just settles in and doesn't move.

So I'm sure she hasn't had the a very comfortable time...but that's what she gets for leaving me shorthanded in July:p

Ah, yer all a buncha of woosies. It's hotter'n all git out here in Corn Patch. How hot is it? If it ain't a hunnert, it's time to break out the parkas and snow boots. The heat waves are so dense you cain't hear a skunk pass gas from 6 foot away. The humidity is so high that you break out in a sweat in two seconds flat....and if you do, you're so soggy and look so bad that everyone accuses you of engaging in porn in the corn. The asphalt covered street out in front of the house is bubbling. The neighbors dogs and cats have sunk outta sight while trying to cross the street and now the road looks like the La Brea Tar Pits! Wore my good black Sunday go to meetin' shoes to a funeral last week and it was so hot that they got a nice tan to'em now. Yep. It was so hot yesterday that when Satan come to visit his sister (I ain't sayin' who is my wife, now, mind you.) that he an' the Angel of Death left early to git back to Hell where it were cooler. Welp. Enough complainin'. Gotta go fix me a cuppa hot chocolate.

So the Corn Patch is located in the heart of an angry star? Good to know:)

That's purdy dang hot.

Sound horribly nasty to me. My sympathies - those poor kitties and pups .

Stay cool!

Dang Doc! I thought you were too far North for it to ever get that hot? You makin popcorn yet?

Well....All I can say is its dang hot here in Texas. Weather TV station said 105 but it was rong where I was. The pavement under my bare feet walkin in to the grocery store was 161ºF. At least thats what my Fluke calibrated spot meter read. Yep I measured it! Nine more degrees and I could make moonshine in the parking lot. Inside of my car is now sterile but my feet are fine :) Oh and I melted ya a Butterfinger but had to eat it since corn patch is so far away!

Better put them in my pocket next time eh?

You expect me to believe that dog? Any fool can see you used an arch welder.

Your getting seriously good at that napping stuff dude.

I believed it

Yeah seriously good - napping in stereo. When I nap I can't even keep my mouth closed. o_O Nicely done.

That is a delicate piece. good job. Let's see you work out a hollow 3-D Mayan eccentric flint!

Your good bawanna! I thought i ground off them welds pretty good. Dang imported cheepo silica welders:rolleyes: They just dont make em like they used to here in the good ol USA!
You a knapper Ray? Id love to see your stuff! Feel free to post in the Cantina. Never know what people here like when it comes to weapons:thumbsup:
Doc them eccentrics are way cool! Theres a story to every part of them. I think they used them as tools to record history and seasonal agricultural cycles etc. My friend Dan T. made a replica of the alligator one. He knows the story to every limb and notch in it. I have a chance to get a pic of it if he brings it to the knap-in in October. Here are a few of his points.

Notice the trifacial points top right! Im not sure if he or i got the record on them? He has the record on everything else:)

He's world class and does beautiful work.

OK one more just cause it has a dagger. He broke the glass on the way up to the knap-in last year. Scary stuff. Maybe thats why he dont bring them eccentrics all the time?
Im camping on the Llano River in October for a knap-in but Im also going a few days early to try out my all native primitive hand made fishing equip. All local wood, stone, and animal sinew. Imported Canadian night crawlers tho? Go figure? Maybe ill go catch some grasshoppers in the back yard. Dont feel right using international bait?

ndog, interesting pushmipullu point, get 'em coming and going. ;)

heat wave over here across the pond, 15C (59F) and 72% hummadidity at 11:10, expected to get up to a scorching 20C (68F), there's a big yellow round UFO in the sky radiating heat fiercely that we haven't seen in so long i forget what you call it. had to switch from my padded jacket to a light windbreaker. hopefully we will survive. will have to switch to bermudas and a short sleeved t-shirt if it gets much hotter. the natives are rushing around in fear looking for green methods of cooling off in this bout of what obviously is man made global warming invoked by DT. holy mother hillary protect us sinners.

NDOG - No sir - sorry to mislead :). There was no spelling error there - I meant NAP as in closing my eyes and nodding off.
What you do is very far beyond my abilities. My part of coastal Maine - home for most of my life - is not a good source of knapping material - some rhyolite from a few locations north of me but no chert in Maine. Closest I have come to napping stone was in shaping some shale to skip on the water. Knap on - er , I mean NAP on.
