If you dropped dead today what would happen to your babies?

One will go to the grave as I asked to have one on my belt. I told them it doesn't have to be a good one, keep those for yourselves.

Knives? What's going to happen to my massive porn collection if I die? (or what will people think?) Just kidding...

My Dad knows the value of my knives, fishing equipment, guns, and wine/beer cellar so I know my stuff would fall in to capable hands.

I've actually thought about this too...

I asked my wife to:
Bury NMFBM LE #114 with me.
Keep any knives she fancies.
Go to Bladeforums, buy Gold membership, and visit the Busse Sub-Forum.
Post you're my widow, use my knife list and pix to ask for help figuring out what the INFI/SR-101 hoard is worth and sell the rest.

I told my wife to call JAXX since he is around the corner here in PA and buys in 27 blade lots...

To paraphrase a tagline from another site: I pray my wife doesn't sell my knives for what I told her I paid for them.

Deal! ;)

I like David Brown's idea. little paper price tags with string are pretty cheap in bulk, and won't harm the knife. Name one one side, Orig. price & FMV on the other, and hanging on the knife or sheath. Also, probably good to have...group shot images printed out on paper with combo description and other known details on the back, filed away. Low tech, I dig it. Maybe high tech it for backup on Google Drive or something similar, then available to you wherever you are. I had records...til I lost my HDD (complete physical failure) on an older computer. :( Now it's all in the head as to what it's worth or where I can find out. That won't do for someone else if need be to sell them/gift them, whatever.

Good to think about... Planning never hurts. :)

My close friends and family will recieve one I left it up to the old lady to make the decision of who gets what.

I have a few friends in place to handle things if needed. Also have a spread sheet for my wife or kids to go off of if they want to do it themselves. Either way it should be covered and someone should have a nice collection of toys or a chunk of change if they choose to sell.

I gave first dibs to my best friend..... Who is also a knife nut.... I'm considering getting buried with my favorite sword. Not sure yet.... Someone else could get to enjoy it!

Spider Monkey,
Great topic for discussion and people to think about.

David,
Great advice about the tags and spreadsheet.

They'd probably be sold for $20 a pop on Craigslist.
LOL, I was thinking pretty much the same thing - $20 each at a garage sale, and then some jerk will come along and offer $5 or $10.

My wife gets 'em per my will...

OT...Have you guys noticed how much a creaking oak tree at 3 AM on a windy night sounds like the hammer cocking on S&W .38 ?

Very good topic,

His is some food for thought;

This last year a guy I met sent me a text asking what some Busse's are worth since he was not really into them and did not know.
He just picked up a few at the local Gun show.

Turns out a guy at a gun show here in Utah had a table full of Busse and kin knives (about 40 or 50) and some where higher end ones.

The guy I know thought he had the info but could not find it at the time.

He also said the guy was not the owner but a friend of the widow of the guy who used to own the knives and was helping out by selling them.

The troubling thing was they were way way under valued.

Like;

3000.00 worth of knives at current value

For 1000.00 or so

the guy selling and the guy buying did not know any better so no foul there .

I did some research to try and help out the widow before any more were sold so cheap and she did not get what they were worth .

Lots of research and a few days later I found out it was a Blade forum member (no need to name names) who passed last year.

the widow even said she contacted a few forum folks to help per her late husbands instructions (not Busse forum folks) but in 4 months not one person got back to her.

So just leaving to have unspecific forum folks help is not the way to go, make sure you have a friend or contact to help out, someone you trust to do the right thing.

The guy selling the knives, through the widow I finally got a hold of a couple days too late.
He said he did research and found out what most of them were sold for new and just went 40 or 50% of that.

Says he sold most of them 30 or so knives to one guy all at once.

Lesson I learned from this is; as I make a sheath/holster with/for my knives/guns, I am putting a tag on them with what it is (name of the knife/gun) and what the value is at that time.
If they change a bunch I will up date them.

I also have a few friends that I trust that will also Help Nancy out And I am sure Brigham will help too.

A spread sheet is a nice back up but a tangible tag I find will help out when the time comes.

Grim subject but one we do have to look at.

Hope that helps.

David

Mr. Brown, you, my friend, are a good man.
