Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

Ken, the scales and jigging look just right!

Ken, the jigging looks very much like the Schrade open stock knives (those not branded as "Old Timer" or "Uncle Henry") like the 825 you have. Henry Baer (Uncle Henry) will be very happy 'bout that. Did you jig them ? or if purchased, is there a name for this bone ?

Thanks Elliott and Roland!

I did the dying and jigging on this set of scales. I had the 825 sitting on my bench as I jigged. If you look close the jigging on the 825 has somewhat of a serpentine pattern to the jigging. I tried to replicate this as I jigged.

Ken, did you ever do a superb job with the jigging !! I think you might be the first Custom knifemaker to do this jigging pattern.
I have many open stock Schrade knives in bone & Delrin and i think the jigging is just as attractive as old Remington, Utica or Rogers. I bet you will get more requests for this.

Yep, that jigging is fantastic and really makes the knife.

Ken,
Another brilliant interpretation sir. You really know how to capture the spirit of your subject. Or in this case, subjects.
Can't wait to see the finished product.

Ken, You really did a wonderful job with the jigging
and dyeing! It looks just like it... amazing.
Thanks for sharing these WIP's photo's...

Let's hear it for sole authorship!! You can't buy bone handles like that!! The icing on the cake really!!!
Great job Ken!!

Getting close! I should be able to finish this knife today. I spent the day yesterday hand finishing parts. Lots of hand sanding:grumpy::eek:

I took these pictures on a standard size checkbook cover I made years ago for size comparison. I hope I got this one pretty close to the knife Steven had in mind.

I like that a lot but those pins sticking out are gonna be a bit rough on the pocket and hands. :p

I was working on a knife in the shop one day and let out a yelp after pokin myself with a pin. Tony heard it, walked over and looked at the pin then took it from me, knocked the point off with a grinder and handed it back. He apparently dislikes hearing a grown man sissy-squealin. :p

Thanks for all the kind comments on this knife! It is very much appreciated. I did finish it up this afternoon. Any comments, critiques more than welcome.

Steven better not travel down any dark and deserted hallways with me at the show...I'm just sayin'...:D

Looks fabulous Ken! Can't wait till my name is next on your list. Your photos of the WIP are a tremendous selling tool, as if you needed a selling tool!
