Nice 0620 👍 where did you find the ti scales for it? Looks like it’s been reground too, sweet knife.
I had gotten one from Steve Ripplinger (Ripp's Garage Tech, he only ever made 2), and had Nathawut make 2 more to give one to my buddy. Nath also did a regrind for me. I don't like non-matching sides 😆

This is a cross-post from the "Acquistions" thread that I felt was also worth posting here.

Just acquired a vintage Kershaw Special Agent, one of the 1st knives produced by Kershaw and one of the few designed for the company by Ichiro Hattori.

KcczK0j.jpg

This is the 3rd Kershaw/Hattori knife that I've purchased and my collection of those knives currently includes the:

Special Agent (1002)
Field Folder (1050)
Heavy Duty Field (1035)

The Heavy Duty Field (1035) was one of the 1st knives ever produced by Kershaw. It was part of what is now called the Hunter Series - Model #'s 1029-1035 - all fixed blade knives dating back to late 1974, which were all designed by Hattori. The Field Folder (1050), which was designed by Hattori in the same way as the fixed blade Hunter Series, followed thereafter; almost certainly prior to 1980. It was the only folder of that style/type ever made by Kershaw.

Even though it has a lower model # than any of the knives in the Hunter Series, I believe that the Special Agent was 1st made in the early 80's (when the Trooper 1007 was also 1st released). Both again designed by Hattori.

Dating the Trooper is much easier than dating the Special Agent because it came w/a COA that provides the date of mfg. The earliest COA for a Tropper that I've seen is dated April 1981. Haven't found a Trooper that I want to purchase yet but I'm still looking for one.

If anyone has any better historical info about these knives, please share it w/us here.

How about a Launch 7?
I like how it fires: almost as hard as my Gerber Impel and Buck 591...
It feels really good in the hands, and looks as serious as an IRS Auditor.

This week I am going fixed blade!

the ZT 0150 - it has long been a favorite of mine - and it is needle-sharp. The sheath is very nice as well - for boot or belt carry.
I will say I almost kept the 0308 in the pocket for another week - what a great knife it is!

Another cross-posting from the Recent Acquisitions thread that I felt would be worth re-posting here.

Just received a Kershaw Shallot 1840CBZDP (composite) that I've been searching for for a long time. No box but in excellent condition.

Paid top $ for it because it has been so hard to find, which is surprising considering that (based on an unverified source), there were were reportedly 1200 of the 1840CBZDP made but it was easier for me to find the 1840ST110V (300 made), the silver damascus 1840DAM (618 made) and the black damascus 1840CKTDAM (501 made).

This brings my collection of Kerhaw Shallots to 8. From top to bottom they are the:

1) 1840
2) 1840ST
3) 1840ST110V
4) 1840DAM
5) 1840CBZDP
6) 1840CKT
7) 1840CKTST
8) 1840CKTDAM

The only one still missing that I hope to add to the collection is the 1840110V (600 made). Hoping to find one sooner than later. ;)

BTW: There are reportedly 2 other Shallots -- 1840DD (black w/a Daniel Defense logo) and 1840VIB (Rainbow - 529 made). Not interested in the 1840DD because, apart from the branding, it's no different from the 1840CKT and not intereted in the 1840VIB because I really don't like the rainbow design.

PS: I also have a "seconds" version of the 1840CKT XXXX (not pictured) that I keep/carry as a user.

Are you not counting the Snap-On Shallots? Snap-On branding but also different colors.

we are missing the Rainbow shallot. Very hard to find I been look for one for a couple of years now . No luck

Not intentionally. I remember it but it wasn't on the list I was referencing that listed a model number for the Daniel Defense. However, I really have no interest in any commercially branded variations of the Shallot, whether DD, Snap-on or whatever.

If I ever see one, I may buy it (just because of its rarity) but, like the rainbow Spyderfly, I really don't like its appearance.

It's not as clean of a look anymore but I am liking this machined clip from MXG on my 0808. Too good of a knife not to carry but it's gotta be southpaw. :p

Tried one of the foldover deep carry clips first but lightweight as it was, it seemed out of character with the fantastically solid 0808. The machined is a better fit (character-wise; the foldover was mechanically good as well), and it turns out the deep carry clip fits my old Benchmade 615 and is a bit sturdier than the flimsy factory clip, so good news all around.
