Knife Joy Slysz Bowie Second Run Coming!

I’ve been posting on BF just not in the BF Spyderco Forum. For Spyderco stuff I’ve been active on Spyderco’s own forum (https://forum.spyderco.com/).

Haven't noticed you elsewhere on BF recently but welcome back to the BF subforum. You've been missed.

----------------------------------------------

I don't get over to the official Spyderco forum much because my knife interests are wider than that but I did spend some time there to keep track of the HIC Mule talk, since I bought one of those.

Waiting to hear about when the Military 2 S90V CF Sprint is going to drop. Haven't heard any talk bout it over in the other forum yet.

Do you know anything about that? 🤔

Still not convinced I'm going in on one, and I have less than 12 hours to make up my mind 🤔

Since I learned about this drop I've continued to buy other knives that I like more - including a Shirogoriv F3 Aquatic, a regular production Shiro F3, CKF EVO 3.0, Holt Morpheus, DEK1 Magnacut, a new CRK Inkosi with Insingo Magnacut blade in glass blasted Ti + black micarta (paid for my 2022 order). Plus today my Maxed out Null Knives Damascus and Fat Carbon Raikou and standard Raikou shipped out to me.

Just today I added a Hinderer Eclipse with Ti scales and 20CV Harpoon Spanto, plus an all-blue all-Ti XM-18 in S45VN from the exchange. And I still have preorders out for a Severn, REK Sparrow, Nick Chuprin Ragnarok custom, Hawk JW4, and many more; and I would take any of these over the Slysz. I'd probably prefer my Spydercco Drunken and Paysan more than this Gen 2 Slysz (1st Gen was best). Three of those four pre-orders were only with deposits, and if I buy this I'm taking away money from the final payment when it comes time for them to ship.

But I also have many cheaper (insignificant) knives that I've bought in the past month (not listed) that I could return to fund this Slysz Bowie, making it a no brainer. Decisions, decisions. I may have to just get it in my hands and see what all the fuss is about.

That's an impressive selection of knives that you've mentioned & I can understand why you wouldn't want to waste your $ on the Slysz Bowie (SB) which pales in comparison.

My excuse for wanting to buy one is that I'm a collector of Spydercos (~170 to date).

The SB has long been missing from this collection but, since I refuse to pay $1k for an original CTS-XHP or $650 for the initial KnifeJoy M390 release, trying to get one for $450 from KnifeJoy upon re-release will have to suffice. 🤷

BTW, I'm sure that I'll still like my Nirvana & Drunken better than the SB too. I had a Paysan before as well but sold it because I found it too plain & hated the lock stick problem with it, given the cost

Yeah, I might only be keeping the lock-sticky Paysan because I'm a collector. But, I maybe have 50 or so Spyderco vs your 170+, where collecting might be the only reason I get one.

I grabbed a Slyz Bowie a while back from their first run, the blue was not as vibrant as it shows in the pictures, at least on that one. It’s an OK knife but in my opinion way overhyped. I’m glad I didn’t pay much for it. Kind of surprised they stuck with M390 and didn’t switch to Magnacut (wish the would have called it MAGA-cut)

I grabbed one. never had one before and I like the blue. I'm not all that obsessed on finishes and other nit picking stuff. this one was easy to grab. started bout half minute late, but was in easy and no website bog down..least yet.

I managed to get one to try out! Looking forward to this mythical beast.

I have never spent so much on something made in Taiwan that did not have semiconductors inside it.

Out of stock now a few minutes before 9 am.

that was good solid website run. no collapse of the site. I went and checked a few times. kudos to knifejoy.

Thought about it, couldn't justify that price for a Taiwanese model.

Definitely always been a fan though they look like awesome slicers.

I have several Taiwan made Spyderco that are pretty good, so that wasn’t an issue for me. My concern is that the Ti finish is inferior to the original and won’t hide wear as much, but as a collector I just felt like my collection would benefit from having one.

I waited over 20 minutes for them to sell out, and then said F it if they’re still in stock God is sending me a message to get one, and after paying I hit refresh and they were gone! 🤣

Taiwan has made all their highest-end ones for a while, though.

I prefer their U.S or Italian made knives, nothing really made me gravitate to a must have from their Taichung lineup which I'm sure is equally great, just design wise they never spoke to me to warrant that kind of price.

lol I'm sure the F&F will be fine and hold up well, I like the blue more than just regular TI gives it a nice pop.

So, I got online at 930am PST (1030 CST) and it's 936am now but the Slysz Bowie is just showing "out of stock" (after continual refreshes) w/no way to buy it.

I'll stick around for a little longer but not much longer. 🤷‍♂️

Giving up at 945am. Even tried calling KnifeJoy CS but just got their voicemail.

So, the Slysz Bowie is going to remain a gap in my collection. Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

sgt1372 sgt1372 I am sorry to inform you that you were an hour late.

10:30 central time is 8:30 am Pacific.

Don’t feel too bad, I have missed many drops because of central time, my brain only recognizes Pacific, and Eastern.

If a drop is mountain or central time my odds go way down because I cannot count properly!

I do think some of these will end up in the marketplace on Bladeforums, so don’t give up yet.

Really? I thought Central was only 1 hr behind Pacific. Oh well . . . guess I f*cked up. 🤷‍♂️

On the good side, I saved $450 for a knife I really didn't want to buy anyway LOL! o_O

Update:

I won't beat this dead horse with another post but thought I'd just add to this one that the reason I failed to logon at the correct time for this sale was because I had confused Central Time (which is 2 hrs ahead) with Mountain time (which is only 1hr ahead) of Pacific Time. Oh well . . .

An afterthought . . .

Maybe KnifeJoy will sponsor another re-issue.

Vendors have to pay Spyderco CUF (cash up front) for exclusives but, given how easily the Slysz Bowie sells out, I'd certainly consider another re-issue if I were KnifeJoy.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see about that and, if it happens, I'll remember to set my clock 2 hours (not 1 hour) ahead for the re-release

LOL! 🤪
