That sounds like an amazing adventure. I'm jealous! Please make sure to take lots of pics and share them here!OK I have booked 2 days in Albacete, just missing the festival.
So I can go and explore.
What would you reccomend are there any artisan makers or big shops worth looking at?
Love the photos. I've ordered several knives from Cuchilleria Albacete. Looks like a pretty nice place.HiJohnnythefox , I've just seen your post.
There are quite a few shops in town (pictured in this thread) that'll show up on a Google maps "Cuchilleria" search, and there's one or two others on the industrial estate (Poligano industrial) but the factories in this thread don't have any shops/outlets. You could walk to the industrial estate from town centre (though I probably wouldn't bother) I'm guessing it's a few miles (by memory, it was over 5 years ago & I had my motorbike).
My post #24 is an artisan maker in the town centre, Juan Luis Vergara, that's one of his knives I bought, some of his work is displayed in the museum...... and I absolutely would recommend the knife museum, I visited it twice I enjoyed it so much!
Have a great time! Feel free to PM me if you any more questions.

Unfortunately, Jose Herreros passed away quite some time back, near the beginning of the pandemic. I was fortunate to get one of the last knives he made. He was very sick at the time. His son broke the news to me.
The is the best finished traditional Spanish knife I own. Near perfect fit and finish, which is exceedingly rare with traditional Spanish knives.

He was selling together with Juan Luis Vergara, and it appears that he is still in business. A few models are on my list!
Recently, several Spanish makers have passed or retired..... JJ Martinez dropped many of their best models when one of the three brothers retired a few years back. Francisco Valencia is retired, Raphael Wizner seems to be very near retirement if not already, and Julian Panadero (a small maker) put his tools away after finding a better paying job. I'm hoping there will be more makers to step up and continue their legacies.
