I think we've all been guilty of it at one time or another. We'll stab a tree branch and call it a knife use picture when it is just a picture of a knife stuck in a log or a tree tip first. Let's be serious here, how many of you really ever needed to tip-first stick a blade into a tree branch while it was still attached to the trunk of a tree? Better yet, how many of you have cut down a tree point first drilling with the tip stuck in only?

Let's have a little fun here and maybe poke fun at ourselves with knives stuck in trees, branches or other parts of trees for the sole purpose of taking a picture. Bonus points go to those pictures of knives that are mark free and were probably just taken out to have a picture taken. I'll let you judge yourself on how many points you deserve.

This thread will probably not feature anything really survival or wilderness related if done right. It will hopefully consist of straight blade and arbor porn. Keep the comments in good taste and respectful of others.

Have at it!!!!

My contribution. From the winter campout in February. Strictly done for photo's sake.

I'll leave it for others to judge and award points.

The Victim, an unsuspecting, innocent tree surrounded by nice flowers and plants.
Sadly, the tree was old and in danger of falling down, and was taken down by a tree removal company 2 weeks ago.
RIP nice old tree.:(

Not so much but I'll try to contribute:

This one is not IN the tree but stuck in a shiitake log leaning against a tree

So often in the past I've placed a knife beside something I was photographing, like a wolf track, banana slug, wildflower, etc. Usually this was my SAK. The red always shows up good and its a known size. It always made sense to me. Most people have either expressed puzzlement or disdain. "Why do you have that knife in there?" with an unsupportive tone is typical. You guys understand though. And now I see it as part of something much deeper ...and perhaps more fun. :)

Good looking buch of knives.

hmmm, just realized something - first kevin posts a thread "What drives your outdoors experience?" then later, the very same day, he posts a thread "Knives in Trees Thread"...

is there a message here? maybe the secret meaning to being outdoors is not some mystical connection with Nature, maybe it's not mastering new skills...

maybe it's really the chance to stick unblemished, never-used knives in a tree and take a picture!

kev, I've seen the light!

;):D
