Lets see some Hinderer action

A question for the Hinderer owners/lovers: the liner that sits below the G10 scale on my new XM-24, is it made from steel or titanium? I’m curious and I don’t have a magnet to test it for myself.

It’s titanium on the Hinderers. A magnet won’t always distinguish titanium from steel. 300 series stainless steel is non ferrous and many other knives have liners and other parts made out of it.

Apologies for a thread detour.

I am looking at picking up my first Hinderer. I want it to be the quintessential model that really highlights what makes people love the brand.

I'm leaning heavily toward the XM18-3.5 with the spanto grind as it seems to fit perfectly in the overall brand ethos.

Two questions: flipper or non-flipper? And I know they use premium steels in general, but is it worth "waiting" for a specific one they seem to have really nailed the heat treat on? Or are they great across the board?

Appreciate the expertise and tolerance of my hijack

I would be on DLT at 10am on Wednesday and pick up a non flipper spanto while they last. This configuration is everything people love about an XM and eliminates the flipper that some people don't like.

I find the 3.5" harpoon spanto to be the most "Hinderer" of the XMs, I own a skinny in 20CV and a standard in S35VN. I personally wouldn't fret the steel but only you know how much you care about a specific one for your use.

Incredibly helpful. Thank you

You can't really go wrong with any XM18 3.5. Flipper or non-flipper. Spanto or drop point.

I’ve been concentrating on other brands lately and had no intention of picking up another Hinderer but when a trade was made available for this one I jumped on it. Quickly added the clip, tab and TI screws. Went on a hunt for a scale and here’s the final product.

I have to tip my hat to the Ranch, their consistency is amazing.

Perfect detent, amazing action, perfectly centered with zero blade play and razor sharp.IMG_1930.jpegIMG_1906.jpeg
