London mayor declares strict knife policy

There is case law in the US to the effect that knives are covered by the Second Amendment.
Here, linking the right to own and carry knives will be a 2nd Amendment issue, as States will start to restrict the possession and carrying of knives as England is doing. It will just take some dramatic murders committed with knives to create the emotional fervor among certain people to ban them. "They're inexpensive, unregulated, silent and lethal, we must get rid off them!" will be the cry. It's utter rubbish, but it's coming.
Even if the highlighted is true at this point it would apply only to individual states as I know there is no case law at the Federal level covering this issue. It would be useful for you to post a link to any state level case law, I would be interested in seeing it, if in fact it exists.

The effort to ban weapons is not about guns or knives, it is about control. They are not just going after your toys, it is you and yours that are at risk. Either you stand your ground or yield and become enslaved. These are the same powers that are going after your home, cars, speech and even red meat.

We need to stop quibbling over gun styles or guns vs.knives. That is their game, they want to confuse and divide us to gain control. If they can control one aspect of your life, they can eventually control everything.

There is nothing progressive about progressives. It is the same old game that we have played throughout history; where someone gets to play master and everyone else gets to be a servant. The master cares for their property, who is 100% dependent on the master for survival. Whether we call it socialism, communism, slavery, caste or nobility; it is all the same. It always starts by disarming a populace and it ends up looking like Cuba and Venezuela. The modern progressive movement can trace it's roots back to the 19th century. It sprung into being just as the old plantation based slave system faded. It is a rose by anther name.

There are other ways to promote and enhance our safety. We could harden our borders and schools, arm law abiding adults, severely punish criminals and segregate and treat the insane. The cost of doing these thing would be less then what we are expending now; but, this retains the power of the people, which is why progressives oppose these efforts.

Why would we put in with the gun community? Guns are weapons, plain and simple. This is the image we are trying to bring knives away from so the general public comes to the understanding that knives are tools.

I'm remined of a quote. "We will all hang separately or together". The UK knife ban began with the gun ban. Once they got that into place, they began with tactical knives & then locking knives & recently arrested two middle class women carrying golf clubs, after an hours putting. It is best to oppose any government ban as these bans spread like a cancer on our liberties.

Where I'd like to get to, is where society would regard a pocket knife, weilded unthreateningly, with the same notice as the pen. And I don't agree that promoting the idea of guns and knives being the same advances that goal.

What I'd like is a legal non addicting form of cocaine that had incredible health benefits. I'm not going to hold my breath. Many of our original knife laws were written to restrict poor people, (read the Chinese & African Americans) from being armed. Guns were expensive so the poor made do with knives. Knife laws were written to prevent them from being able to engage in self defense & to keep them in their place.

I'm still of the mindset that it is more effective to change the mindset instead of making it an issue of legalizing weapons. All over America, marijuana is being legalized because it is gradually being seen as not a threat to society. You keep on making knives a second amendment issue and it will be treated as an issue about bearing arms.

In case you haven't noticed, knives are being viewed & treated as weapons. Look at London, NYC or Chicago. Thinking that by disassociating yourself from the gun community is going to provide a safe haven, is much like the thinking of the non Orthodox Jews, thinking they'd be safe from the camps, because they behaved in most respects like other Germans. The Nazis didn't make such fine line distinctions & neither do those who attempt to trample on our rights now.

Everyone ought to have a pocket knife. Responsible kids should have pocket knives. On the other hand, not everyone should have a gun. Quite an awful lot of people who do have guns ought not to have them.

You're entitled to your own mindset, just be mindful of the fact that reality doesn't tend to match up to it.
