Looking for EDC folder w/reinforced rear bolster for striking

such a silly idea
Nope , not "silly" with the proper training and practice . And even without any special skill , knives of all kinds have be used in countless documented SD events .

Edit : Often successfully and without necessarily going to prison , as is the myth .

Sorry , but this really is more for the "Practical Tactical " subforum , but there are some potential problems in drawing a knife to use as a short stick /kubaton .

The knife might be seen as a lethal weapon being introduced into a fight , even if still folded . So unless that is justified , I'd probably NOT .

Might be worth it to train and carry something "less lethal " , also . Have more options rather than escalate hostilities .
Yeah, understood. The idea was, if out of all options, and before the unleashing of the blade. Rather than look for a rock. :)

Just FYI: A non-fantasy-based use of a striking point is to slam it through the bottom of a box to break it down. Even without a pointed end, the force alone tends to punch through tape and allow you to easily pull the flaps apart.

That's funny you say that. When we get shipping boxes with that cheezy packing tape, this is exactly how I do it as well. Blade never comes open.

At the risk of feeding into the Prac Tac frenzy, the Kershaw Barge will set you back all of $13 and that prybar on the back really does work as a prybar, painter's key, and improvised hammer. It is a quite solid hunk of steel, and the blade has been pretty decent for all sorts of garage/yardwork things.
