Mods, Regrinds, Cerakote, and Sharpening

Josh keeps me with great cutting edges! Once you go REK, it is hard to like a fat factory grind. This is my 4th Hinderer that Josh has transformed from a sturdy crowbar that can cut to a cutting machine that can pry.... He also makes the grinds beautiful to look at. This one is a Spanto that is now hollow ground over the belly with a flat ground tip (but appropriately thin at behind the cutting edge). Also a slight enhancement of the swedge.

Had a few minutes at my office for a cell phone shot.

And for comparison, here is the knife before the REK Regrind.

Nice pic Arnold! Sometimes it's hard to get the right lighting to show the hollow grind :) glad you got it in and are enjoying it buddy! Thanks for posting this up!

Josh OK guess I should just set up direct deposit so my paychecks can put in your account since you will be getting all my money anyway! Sending you two more next week. Great work

Sounds good on the knives Charles! I'll try to get pics up of your Socom Delta when I'm done w/ it =)

I've got a folder that is flat ground, but I'd like to get it ground much higher. Rough grit is fine. Do I have to take it apart for that or just send it to you in one piece?

This edge work is done how?

It's done either on the Wicked Edge or my belt sander or both...

How do I get a couple of my knives done? I have a Bill Siegel Sar 4 that needs your abilities

Just follow the mail-in instructions here. :)

Yeah, just send in the blade if you can otherwise I charge a disassembly/reassembly fee.

my knives are still in the process of getting work done, but so far i am extremely impressed, not only by the craftsmanship, but also at Josh's patience with my requests and my nonstop blabbering about knives. he took his time to understand how i am using my tools and to give his professional input and suggestions. i can't wait to get them back, but in the mean time, i am already thinking about sending him more work.

Josh did such a great job reprofiling my Spyderco Tuff I'm shipping him another one.
Inbound blade Josh. :)

Thanks man, should be wrapping yours up in the next few days... had an equipment issue that will be resolved in a couple days before I can cerakote.

He made these changes to the original Skinner grind.
  1. Hollow grind to 220 grit
  2. Hollow ground swedge
  3. Blade sterilization and hand rubbed satin on flats

This is how the blade looks before and after the mod.

Josh's abilities to turn an ordinary looking blade into a work of art is one of the best in the market. I am truly impressed by his work and customer service.

Don

wow that came out looking amazing!

Damn - I wish I had gotten mine done like this. I love how the top swedge blends to the tip.

I used one Josh's modded Skinner as reference and drew lines on it to show him how I wanted mine to be done. We exchanged a few emails and he asked me a number of questions just make sure he got it right. The outcome is in fact much better than what I expected. When the work is done, he sent me pictures of the competed project to make I am happy before he sent the knife back to me. His customer service is excellent [emoji106]

A little bit of recent work... finally getting around to posting!

Here is a shot of some well worn micarta scales from a CQC6... You can see what a difference a fresh bead blast makes (on the left)
